Not what I said. Go re-read.

I was specifically talking about that guy's situation. He is MAXING his 401k. He isn't living paycheck to paycheck.

I could do 2k a month without changing my lifestyle and not really saving. If I were to hunker down I could do 1.5 pretty easily.

Phone companies were smart to switch to the monthly deal. Poor people see $30/month for an iPhone X and jump all over it.

Everyone doesn’t live in Louisiana. Like I said, it’s not a good automatic assumption. Here in TN, $4100 is closer to $65k than 75-80k

A take home of $4100 with married filing jointly in any state in the country is AT LEAST $65k. Federal income tax and FICA taxes alone would bring you to $4100 without any insurance or anything else.

Does no debt mean my rent is free? That's $2200 right there.

Meh, the bigger issue is that people feel entitled to "own" things, go on vacation, eat out, drive nice cars...etc.

What's the point of living if you're not gonna do any of that stuff?

I included rent. With no rent I could do $500-1k. 500 would suck. 1k wouldn't be bad at all.

You got some cheap rent, baw.

I'd need like $1500-2000 on top of rent.

I assume that you are single with that number. Hell that wouldn't cover our grocery bill, electricity bill and auto insurance.

That is the big question. For us which our biggest expense is insurance. Be it car, house or even more health. That cost us a arm and a leg.

Health-$1425 a month

House- $2100 per year

Car insurance- $211 a month.

Other insurance-$97

So, just to live, we could get by with around 3K a month.

2 months free bubba. Comes out to right about $950 a month. You got to hunt those deals and negotiate. I moved into a brand new building for that price right by Northpark.

I'm not big on eating out. That shite gets expensive and I eat really clean anyway. That saves me several hundred a month.

That's what keeps most people from retiring early. I said $2500-3000 assuming that I still had insurance through my employer.

We wanted a townhouse with a garage and everything. We're right by Northpark though, in the village.

We do maybe once a week or 2, but cable, phone, gas for driving 100-200 miles a day, groceries for 2, car insurance for 2, etc. It adds up.

If you cut your number in half we'd be close. Of course cable, etc would be the same so let's say 40%, we're still not outrageously far apart.

Yep. Before Obama care, insurance for the wife was around $300 with a 1k deductible. After, is now over $850 a month with a $6200 deductible.

I'm on Medicare and I also have a supplement Plan "F" that is a set fixed price that covers 100% what Medicare don't pay. Much cheaper then the wife's insurance.

Yep, combined we are probably around $75k/year before taxes. We have a vehicle note, and only rent right now, but we don't live above our means by any stretch of the imagination. We live pretty comfortably.
