You don't seem to understand what I took issue with, which I also feel I've been extremely clear on. Like I said, we are talking past one another.

I’ve watched a few times now and feel the cop was a jerk.

I initially thought maybe he felt threatened from a possible reach, but nah. He was just pushing him out of the way and it went badly.

I opened this ready to shite on the cop, but this one is kinda weak

Right as the cop goes to extend his arm to pretty much just make space, the old man is stepping backwards and losing his balance almost on his own

The cop didnt put much of anything at all into it, and didnt look like his intention was for the old man to fall

Frick that man. Part of our issue here, a major part but not a majority part, is holding fricking idiots accountable. DON'T FIGHT THE POLICE.

Emotions are so high.

I can see him, especially at that age, approaching them without a care and possibly to offer some sort of peaceful exchange.

The situation didn’t appear to call for that action, IMO. However, I could still be changed depending upon further information.

I would probably be super pissed if that was my father, because I could see him doing crap like this. Not protesting, but just going up to a cop and saying hello in the middle of all this other madness..

What concerns me is if the police truly tried to say he just slipped and fell.. and had it not been on video that would be the end of it.

I still want body cams on all active police to hopefully keep both sides accountable.

I guess I need to watch it more closely.

How come the cop shook his head and never even looked back at the guy though? You could hear the crack when he fell.

Of course he was a jerk, do you not see what is going on? The police alerted that they were creating a line and pushing it forward. The old man came in and tried to argue or otherwise break their line up.

This is exactly why the police that pushed him kept moving forward, their goal was to hold a line. You let the people behind the front line deal with anyone that falls down. They weren't being jerks, they were following orders.

People want to hate on "military" tactics and equipment, but they are there for protection and safety. The police are citizens also, I very much doubt any of them want to be involved with this right now. Its a lose lose situation for them and they are putting their lives on the line.

Frick that ex-cop!

Watch the video, the old man comes to a complete flat footed stop 5-6 feet away from the cop that advanced and pushed him dowm while the old man was trying to return a piece of their equipment. That cop was so amped up at finally meeting someone he could overpower he altered his course just to push the old man down.

You are an idiot if you think two selected still shots tell the story.

Watch the video.

Grandpa was up in 2 cops' personal space swinging his hand around and it came near the officer's belt.

They pushed him back, but not hard. Grandpa basically tripped over his own feet and fell like a statue backwards.

If you watch the video it looks like a flop that would make the NBA proud.

It sucks he had no coordination and his head bounced on the sidewalk, but given the circumstances the cops were not overly aggressive.

This. Cops have been working 16 hours everyday for 2 weeks now. They get yelled at and shite thrown at them all day. If you are dumb enough to stand in front of a line and reach out at a cop's waist, I have a hard time feeling too bad about whatever happens next

Join the fricking idiot club.

Don't get me wrong. I support your right to think anything you want. But I have the right to put you in the fricking idiot club too then.

Beyond the obvious that was wrong about it is maybe the fact that society has allowed police forces to go unchecked for decades and it leads to a belief that they can do whatever they want and you shouldn't get in their way and if you do, you get what you deserve. Maybe that is part of what needs to be changed.
