Everyone has these in their lives. Can you recognize one? Are you one?

Definitely some righteous crusaders around here. No matter the facts or logic, they hold onto their beliefs. 4cubbies is one IMO.

What about me? Righteous crusader would seem to best fit me if I had to pick one. I think I try my best to be open minded but I think it’s difficult for anyone to think you’re wrong after you have formed an opinion. If you just actively listen to what the other person is saying, I think one can avoid this trap sometimes.

But hey, no one’s perfect.

I wonder how one can change from being one of these? Near death experience? Loss of a parent or child? Becoming broke? Hit rock bottom?

You didn’t even watch the video. You should. It’s interesting to see if anyone in your life fits these and act accordingly.

Treat friends, family and coworkers differently based on a youtube video?

No, I don't think I will.

Is this a real thing or was this you not knowing how to spell “righteous” despite being a wealthy attorney?

I know someone specifically who possess 6 of the 7. No bullshite. He will agree with everyone then go behind everyone's back to manipulate people to help him get it the way he wants.

He will attempt to gain sympathy out of any situation possible in order to get something from people.

He is also an extremely jealous type, which I consider this to be the ultimate bitch. If you can't be happy for someone's success because you make it about yourself then you are a down right bitch.

While I hate to use this word, the person I am referring to is a true narcissist, which is a word I know people overuse, but he truly is and is the worst person to be around. The second he comes into a room you can feel the tension. He knows everything and when he is wrong, he will have a reason why the right information is wrong and why what he said is correct.

If this dude doesn't know how to do something, he would rather leave it undone than to ask for help. Like I say about him. If he was on a ship that went up in flames, he will try to put out the fire and if it gets beyond his control, instead of going ask others on the ship to come help, he would rather the ship just burn up with him and everyone else still in it because in his mind, he at least didn't have to go ask someone to help him.

The way to get him to do what he needs to do is to tell him someone else is available and able to do what you need him to do, but not without taking it personal that you would even dare suggest someone would be able to do it as good as he is able to.

I wrote the 7 down and read them to my wife. She immediately thought I was talking about one of her relatives. I had to explain to her that I only wrote what the guy said and I wasn't trying to talk bad about someone.. It nailed someone we have to deal with on a regular bases.

Dated a chaos merchant in college. It took me way too long to figure it out, but was such a joyful moment when I did.

Definitely worked with a habitual liar. Both he and his father were like that. As one co-worked said, if he tells you the sky is blue, you'd better first look out the window. We did hang out and had some good times, but I knew to take his tales for entertainment value only.

ChatGPT summarized it for me. You’re welcome.

Here’s a summary of the personality types discussed in the “7 Personality Types You Should Never Trust” video you linked (a talk attributed to Alan Watts on toxic or untrustworthy personality patterns). While there isn’t a full official transcript online, multiple commentaries and related summaries capture the core idea: the speaker describes seven types of people whose behavior patterns are harmful or draining and suggests that wise people learn to recognize and avoid them. ?

7 Personality Types to Watch Out For
1. The Perpetual Victim / Chronically Lazy
Someone who consistently refuses responsibility or growth, always making excuses and expecting others to fix things for them. They drain energy without evolving. ?
2. The Chronic Manipulator
A person skilled at influencing others for their own gain. They tell stories that make you want to help, but their intentions serve themselves. ?
3. The Righteous Crusader / Arrogant Self-Righteous
Individuals driven by certainty and moral superiority. They may reject help and only want validation, not genuine engagement. ?
4. The Chronic Liar / Habitually Dishonest
Someone for whom truth has little value. Patterns of lying and deceit make them unreliable and untrustworthy. ?
5. The User / Envious or Selfish Person
People who approach relationships transactionally—taking what they need without reciprocity or appreciation. ?
6. The Envious Destroyer / Chaos Merchant
Individuals who can’t bear others’ success or calm; they thrive on drama, discord, or undermining others. ?
7. The Unrepentant Rebel / Incurably Defiant
Someone who knows better but refuses to change destructive patterns, often nodding agreement in words but not in actions. ?

Overall Message

The video’s lesson isn’t about harsh judgment, but discernment: learning to recognize patterns of behavior that consistently harm your peace or well-being so you can set healthy boundaries. The idea is that compassion doesn’t mean enabling, and sometimes the wisest choice is to protect your own energy rather than constantly trying to fix someone who’s unwilling to grow. ?

And this is why you should not trust ChatGPT...the 7th type is the Chaos Merchant, not the Unrepentant Rebel.

The first one describes every liberal ever

Nothing is their fault and they blame everyone for every bad thing that happens

Criminals are criminals because of external forces and not because of the choices THEY make
