I know of 3 that have committed suicide and a lot more that have lost jobs. I also know some elderly folks that want to make their own choice to risk COVID to see family and not be told what to do.

What the frick are we doing? We need to quit pretending that we are in a pandemic and realize that all of our problems are due to an overzealous reaction to a minor epidemic. Heaven help us if we ever have a real pandemic because this trial run has been a disaster.

I've known half a dozen that went to hospital. I know a couple who died from it as well.

Did they really, though? It seems like nobody dies of old age in 2020.

It’s all about democrat states, and their dumbass governors holding people’s lives hostage for federal money that isn’t coming.

You must have nothing but mask wearing friends that only attend mostly peaceful protests.

I think that's kind of the point..
We are practicing for a real pandemic, chemical and biological warfare is a real threat.

This is honestly a flu that attacks the weak. The next time will be something more direct.

And the world supported the moves initially. Then got tired of the bull shite.

Buuuut.. now it will be a boy who cries wolf scenario. A real pandemic will have the world super fricked

FYI I've personally known 3 that have died (all old and African American)

And 6 that have been hospitalized and survived. (Healthy mix of backgrounds)

No deaths known to you?

God bless you. We have lost three friends, one a nurse at St. D, one a former coworker, and another close friend. None of them were anywhere close to their expected death time.

Of course, no one knows what tomorrow will bring. We are only given today and perhaps not all of it.

I know several people who were hospitalized and personally know one who died. He was not elderly but had some comorbidities. They were being successfully managed and he wasn't going to die anytime soon if not fot the covid, so it did kill him, not his preexisting conditions. This guy had a successful career and left behind a wife and two children. His daughter was engaged to be married so he missed out on that. I know of a few other people who died but wasn't personally acquainted with them. Our parish has been hit pretty hard. Nevertheless, I could somewhat agree with your general thesis, but you go here:

quote:

minor epidemic.

And lose all credibility. This is not an existential threat to humanity, but it is much more than a minor epidemic. Anyone who doesn't believe that is a crackpot or blinded by ideology. We may have mishandled some things, but to shrug it off as no big deal is absurd.
