This is honor codes legacy
We have the second highest percentage of kids on Medicaid.
More than two states accepted expanded Medicaid.
So, it’s not just on JBE.

I think you should have to pay 20% of my electric bill because I'm disadvantaged. If you dispute this, what percentage of your labor am I entitled to?

You are ignorant if you don’t think the system isn’t being scammed. For instance, relative worked with a woman who had a good paying job, husband was a truck driver, and both their kids were on Medicaid. If you don’t believe that is the norm then keep your head in the sand. And let’s also look who holds positions in the Medicaid offices, that would explain how so many are getting thru.

People that work dont have many children. People that live for free get more money when they have more kids.

My two aren’t and it isnt cheap, but that’s ok it’s just what you do right? Apparently not many parents doing it? I don’t know any kids not on private insurance

Do you really think an hour with a general practitioner is worth $375?
If your mechanic could only charge 25% of his stated charges, could you get an oil change for 10 -15 bucks?
The $375 bill probably gets reimbursed $90 or so

But 70% of kids in LA on socialized medicine? That's fricked
This.
There is a need for a safety net and that’s fine.
But when 2/3 plus need a safety net, we have a society problem.

Can we get a breakdown by race?

it is a percentage that Medicaid pays
Medicaid will only pay a percentage, therefore hospitals raise prices to increase what that percentage is.

Doc’s not getting the $375 from anyone

Didn't say that. But the perception of who exclusively takes the handouts is grossly incorrect. Almost political cartoonish.

My neighbor is a pediatric surgeon. She says that almost all of the lawsuits come from Medicaid patients. No goo deed goes unpunished. She makes nothing, but can't refuse Medicaid because she has a heart and they don't have anywhere else to go.

The $375 is to charged in order to get what is actually wanted, the $90.
It’s a fricking stupid system.

Bc hospital ceos want to make a lot of money

It costs a lot to run and staff a hospital. How much you think all the technology they have to use costs?
Posted on 10/18/23 at 9:25 pm to GreenRockTiger
quote:Because if hospitals stated that they actually just want $90, Medicare/Medicaid would simply pay 20% of that amount anyway.
but if the hospitals settle for whatever reimbursement- then why can’t that be the price for everyone?
This system is carried by those with private insurance.
The number of physicians who are willing to see Medicare/Medicaid is decreasing as well.
As a pediatrician, the number of patients you would have to see to survive via Medicare/Medicaid is too high to even be feasible.
This system is forcing everyone into the corporate hospital system.

Just curious, do you feel the same way about section 8 housing and food stamps/EBT cards? Do you realize that Medicaid is the healthcare version of that?
