Really? We want a 12 year old to be sued for defamation for lying?

I'm not sure what should happen...but SOMETHING should, right? Had she simply kept her mouth shut, there would have been no defense the boys could have mustered that would have prevented some pretty serious consequences for them...and it would have been totally false.

You're not suggesting nothing happen for lying about what amounts to the worst thing you can say about a person in 2019, right?

Look at how the dumbasses are justifying it

quote:

Sad for all involved. I imagine having a verified liar as a leader has impacted not just adults but youth as well: “if he lies and gets away with it why shouldn’t I” seems to be the attitude of many right now.

So when it was true it was Trump's fault. But now that it is a lie it is still his fault.

We are reminded once again that the demand for racism exceeds the supply.

Doesn’t look like he knows them personally but the family acknowledged it & thanked him on Facebook

Yeah...I'm gonna side with "not nearly fricking harsh enough" given what the ramifications could have been had she not fessed up.

I'd bet that it would not take too much effort to have found death threats aimed at these boys who "did" this when the story came out. Imagine if their names had come out? All for a lie?

At some point there needs to be consequences harsh enough to prevent making shite like this up. I'm not sure a few days off and writing 1000 lines of "I won't accuse anyone of racist attacks any more" is going to do it, though.

Just asking, so we actually know who leaked it?

Who else would it have been if no one saw it at school and she supposedly didn't tell anyone until her grandmother noticed a few days later?

The boys she accused were facing expulsion.

Anyone in her family. Someone from inside the school who doesn’t like leadership

The parents issuing a public apology is not what you normally see from the type of people that organize these events.....

Jussie and his peeps are still digging in

Ok

I think boys holding a girl down and cutting here hair is worthy of expulsion

I think making up a story and lying is worthy of a suspension

I’m sure some feel differently

Scruffy believes that false accusations should merit the same punishment that the one accused would face.

For a run of the mill lie about why you didn't turn in your homework, sure. For a making up a lie that involves a racially motivated assault and battery, probably deserve a more harsh punishment

I, for one, am thrilled that we now live in a world where someone can signal their vitures, for all to see, from across the country.

Michael Daddona, thank you for your service!
