Bro. I didn't write the article or weigh the dogs. Just citing the article and posting here to rally more troops against pits. I've totally seen 200 pound dogs before, Cane Corso and Kangal can definitely get there.

If property managers of rental properties really wanted to stop allowing certain breeds they need to require DNA testing. Breed identification isn’t very expensive and all it takes is a cheek swab collected by the owner in front of and sent out by management. A common work around is to identify as “lab mix” when checking in to a vets office so they have medical records to prove it. It’s unfortunate but most vets don’t have/take the time or energy to argue over it by changing to appropriate breed.

Cane Corsos are 2000 years older than a pitbulls. Anyone that says they have a pitbull over 80 pounds doesnt have a pitbull. They have some type of bully breed.

200 lb pit bulls?
Cane Corsos are a decent bit bigger than pits and thats twice the size of a normal Cane Corso
ETA: 200 lbs for the 3 dogs combined is probably in the ball park though
Yeah, I smell the usual amount of misinformation that typically accompanies these sorts of stories.

Disgusting animals.
I have 4 dogs and they couldn't be bigger sweeter goofballs. These aren't domestic animals.
Oh, good grief.
Find someone who says something like this^^^, you're probably looking at a labrador retriever owner.
Here's the problem with the "Pit Bull" statistics. "Pit Bull" isn't even an official breed of dog. Yes, there's an American Pit Bull Terrier breed, but people call dogs "Pit Bulls" who don't even belong to that breed. Basically if a dog visually resembles what people think of as a "Pit Bull," that's what they get called.
And so under those imprecise conditions (with around three actual breeds being counted under one), sure, they statistically are most likely to bite.
But those labrador retrievers mentioned earlier are statistically the second most likely to bite. And their bite force is almost identical to the "Pit Bull," AND they are bigger and heavier.
One can argue that the "Pit Bulls" are more dangerous b/c of that instinct to lock down and refuse to let go, and that's fine and probably true to the extent that we're really talking about an actual Pit Bull.
But any large dog can hurt someone. And practically every large dog acts like a lovable sweet goofball around their owners...until they don't.
I've known at least one example of everything from a lab to a "pit bull" to a German shepherd to a border collie to an Australian shepherd to various hounds to anything you can name, that snapped, went off book, and bit someone. I guess the only dog I've never known to do that is a Beagle.
Dachshunds are bad about biting too. But they're too small to kill you if they do. I stick with them.

As someone who’s seen “cute and nice” pit bulls..what makes these dogs do some crazy shite like this I’ll admit I’m ignorant to the whole situation.. Is it how you raise them? Can you get them as a puppy and raise them to be the sweetest thing? Please explain

That’s a load of bull. That’s nowhere near a pit bull in terms of ignorance. A cane corso is a very highly intelligent dog. Same intelligence line as a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois
Heres the fact of most dog owners. At LEAST 80% of dog owners don’t train their dog. So you have idiots owning dogs just to have one.
All pits should be thrown in meat grinders. Trashy dogs. And anyone that has a dog the attacks someone for no apparent reason should be in prison for 10 yrs and that’s without a death.

Well first off, are we talking cane corso? Or some cheap mixed breed coined as a cane corso? Cause to find a cane corso? Actual one? Is expensive and usually you have to go outside the USA.
Most of these “cane corsos” are some backyard breeder who got one, mixed with Rottweiler or Neapolitan mastiff and calling it that. So that’s probably why the ones you see? Are stupid

I've owned a boxer that wouldn't think about biting anyone unless they were actually a threat.
I've owned a lab/boxer mix that would want to eat anyone's arse if they came close to the yard.
I've owned a German Shepherd that was highly protective.
Im positive that socializing an animal goes a long way. If they aren't socialized, they are extremely protective of their “pack"
