Right now I think it would be an improvement to be like Detroit

I don't think tourism is drying up yet. But it will if the violence continues to get worse.

If an easily identifiable group that is 6% of the population commits half the murders wouldn't it make sense to address the problem?
I wonder why that does not happen.

Mitch is a bitch and the next mayor will not do anything about it. It will continue to get worse because the people of NOLA will continue to elect a bunch of people who pander to the left and minorities. They don't want to do anything but talk.

New Orleans: the city that care, decency, integrity, and efficiency forgot.

Well, the "minorities" make up 67% of New Orleans.

Putting strict restrictions on Airbnb will lead to less people being able to come stay cheap
Plus, the crime numbers
Tourism is going to drop. I think it's inevitable
Nola needs to embrace itself as a boutique city, nothing more

This is exactly what I was thinking this morning. Hundreds of people protesters for weeks and vandalized their own communities when one POS like Mike Brown or Alton Sterling get killed. 6 get shot in one night and not a single peep from that group. Everyone move on with your day, no big deal.

Damn statues are at it again.

New Orleans has always been a boutique city. Often, it would rise above the rest by hosting major events: Superbowls, Final Fours, Republican National Convention, etc.
I can see this slowly dwindling down. Then, New Orleans will be lumped back in with Memphis, St. Louis, Savannah, etc.

I think as soon as the hipster appeal dies, it's going to take a nose dive.

And I already know what your answer is going to be so I'll tell you to go look at the crrime stats from the 90's and get back to me.
People didn't have internet and instant news in the fricking 90s. People in New Orleans didn't even have those statistics at their finger tips.
