Until we acknowledge this is a community issue and not a damn black or white issue it won't be addressed.

We have to address the causal factor(s) together or just wait for somebody else to address it while we bitch about it daily.

Having even more shootings and murders occur, even for New Orleans. I'm thinking the statues coming down had no positive impact on the crime in the city. Brilliant thinking Mitch the Bitch.

Mitch doesn't care. He's looking ahead to his next gig and can care less about his lack of commitment to real issues of New Orleans.

yeah, he will get a gig with the DNC, they don't care about his lack of being a leader, stopping crime, doing anything.

They want the man that took on the Racist Southerners and tore down the statues. He could be pushed for a good gig with DNC, they like his type. Progressives will also like him.

Indeed. That's why I believe curbing tourism with the str restrictions is just a bad move for a city with near zero industry.

I'm selling my property and renting. I think prices are going to come crashing down within 5 years

tough call, if they gentrify areas around you, ur property value skyrockets. But once the street turns, the property values will sink to the shitters, as well as rest of neighborhood.

The same way people live in every big city. The statistics are ridiculous for Nola but unless you're a 15-30 year old black guy you're relatively safe. If you understand it's probably not a good idea to walk around Central City at 2am you'll be fine.

I don't think these major events will die off completely. They'll throw New Orleans a bone every decade or so. Too many other cities, big and moderate, have simply surpassed them. They've simply done it overnight too.

New Orleans is closely surrounded by prospering cities: Austin, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Tampa, Miami-Fort Lauderdale and will simply be overlooked. Add on other booming cities in the distance (Denver, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Portland, Phoenix etc.) and New Orleans is in trouble with hosting these events. The addition of professional sports teams in Las Vegas and Los Angeles...I don't see how you can NOT say the future outlook is grim.

New Orleans will really have to market and capitalize off of Mardi Gras, Jazz Festival, weddings, Essence Festival, Pride, and bacherlor/bachelorette parties.

NOLA was consistently the murder capital of the US during the 90s. It slipped some after Katrina. I guess it's coming back for the crown. It was 4th in 2016.

Ain't no money in that for the race baiters who are directing the narrative. So it won't happen.

We took the St. Charles exit and within minutes we saw a man with his pants around his ankles, and shirt pulled up under his chin, wiping his arse. He wiped once, twice, then looked at the brown paper and discarded it tot he ground in front of him.

This is New Orleans.

Some people just don't know how to be happy about the fact that they visited New Orleans and didn't get shot.

True, while the gentrification could continue, I think the prices are already inflated, so I'm getting out while I'm ahead.

Also I just don't like owning

What are the drawbacks of owning in your opinion? Just curious to hear.

I think I could have invested my down payment elsewhere and been easily way ahead from where I will end up after the sale. I'll get like 4/5% a year and I could have made 300% in a month investing in crypto (just as an example)

I just don't have the sweat equity to handle the daily/weekly upkeep. I just miss not having to maintain shite.
