50 Years since the Raid on Entebbe today

Lost in all the celebration of our 250th birthday is the 40th anniversary of the Raid on Entebbe.
A group of Palestinian terrorists hijacked a French airplane. Once the hijackers took control, they separated the Jewish passengers from the rest of their fellow travelers. Imagine the horror the Jews felt 30 years after Auschwitz when they were being herded by German speaking terrorists.
The terrorists took the plane to Uganda after freeing the non-Israeli passengers. Idi Amin gave them sanctuary. He would regularly visit the airport where he would taunt the hostages.
The Israelis said enough is enough and sent three C-130s filled with commandos to rescue the hostages. Striking in the middle of the night, they freed the hostages and killed the terrorists while losing only one soldier, Yanni Netanyahu.
Unfortunately, one hostage was killed. An elderly woman was taken to the hospital. After the raid, Idi Amin had his people kill her. It should be noted Mandami's father wrote a book last year praising the butcher.
NBC produced a pretty good movie about the raid. Irving Kirschner, who directed the Empire Strikes Back, directed the movie. It had Charles Bronson, Peter Finch (Network), James Woods, Jack Warden, Robert Loggia. It is on Youtube for free. Helluva a story to watch.

I'm no Jew lover but I'm less of an Amin lover and this one was pretty cool.
