This is why nobody likes you and it ain't because you're "just being real".

I also think talk of his supposed infidelity has no impact on his life's work. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Did you miss the part where he beat the prostitutes?

A man for human rights beat women. That absolutely diminishes his life's work to some degree.

So I guess Memphis used that as an excuse to not do any work yesterday?

Was that part of Abernathy's book that virtually every person who knew MLK came out and said was bullshite?

Allegations of him beating women were also leaked with the JFK files last year IIRC.

He was a necessary man leading a necessary movement during a necessary time.

Black “leaders” these days can go frick themselves. They’re racist con artists and the very last thing they would ever want are black success and good race relations. People like Gravy, Jarvis, Broome, Sharpton, and Maxine Waters are scum of the earth.

Anything to not talk about Whitney Bank...

quote:

Gravy -- 50 years ago today they killed a King. He wasn’t just Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, in name. He was a King in every sense of the word. History has painted this glowing story of Dr. King. Focusing on the dream that he would eventually call a nightmare, but 60% of Americans thought King was dividing the nation. They thought because he was calling on America to do right by his people, he was a “race baiter” and “outside agitator.” He sacrificed his life for black People, for America. THINK ABOUT THAT. He gave HIS LIFE for the advancement of black People, as some of us won’t miss a day of work to continue the march toward justice. Black bodies are still falling in the ground daily in one form of injustice or another. We must do more if we are to honor his life and legacy. They didn’t kill King when he was fighting for civil and voting rights. They knew rights would only help their agenda if they kept control of the money. When he shifted to organizing poor people to earn higher wages, when he decided to call out America’s unjust wars, they said — we must stop him. On today 50 years ago, they took his life, but good King’s don’t die as long as the impact of their work remains. He was 39 when they killed him. We have wandered in the wilderness long enough, it’s time to go to the promise land he spoke of 50 years ago. Rest in Power King, Thank You for your sacrifice for my people. Let us continue the work of bending the moral arch of this universe toward justice.

I always figured that there was a higher chance of conspiracy theories being true with MLK's assassination than with JFK's assassination.

Alton wasn't a plagiarist.

Why does King get a pass for his faults but others throughout history don't?

If roles were reversed we would be renaming streets and taking down statues of him in today's society.

I really wish everyone was treated this way. We create this standard for our historical figures like they have to be perfect. They are humans and they lived in a society based on the values at the time. Then values change and we go back and act like these people were monsters who were doing this today. Sometimes, yes, people were actually terrible, but most of the times I wouldn't think so, they simply were raised and surrounded by a completely different society. I'm completely ok with MLK continuing to be an icon even if things come out that make him imperfect because of what and how he did what he did for Civil Rights in America.

Ever hear of JFK? Oh, I'm pretty sure also a guy that banged a bunch of slaves is still on our dime.

That you swallow every bit of hearsay is all the proof anyone needs that you're just a fool with an agenda.

Unfortunately for you, the majority of people see right through you.

You'd like for his life's body of work to be diminished, but it never will be. Suck on that and then slink back to the Poli board with the other scum.
