I was searching for a pic of a NIH to show a baw out here in Cali about the most amazing haircut ever, as he was wanting to rock a new hairdo. While searching, I came across a thread by blueboy about the history of the NIH. I have to say, I was quite impressed.

Thank you to blueboy for educating me on the history of the NIH and its importance and place in history. If you look at the course of history, the NIH had a deep impact on it and I think it's important to highlight that fact and the work blueboy put into his lesson. I would have bumped, but can't.

To blueboy

PS - I also found a pic of this amazing hat while searching...

That was a thread I’ll never forget. National championship effort and national championship execution.

Spot on.

Not only is blueboy the professor of NIH 101, he's also a freaking legend for that thread.

Blueboy deserves a board named after him for that thread alone.

Maybe one day while chicken is out, we can push the process through and give this man the respect he deserves.

We need to bring back the droppies in some form. Better done, new categories.

Honor the great threads of the past

I agree. This board used to be a fun and entertaining place.

Now, we mostly get threads of "where can I get clipped" or "what do you use to trim your ear and nose hair with".

I like how he's in a suit on the left and without a shirt glazing at the stars on the right.

It's like the mullet of pictures. Business on the left, party on the right.

The New Iberia Haircut: A Pictorial History

Heroic effort, massive fail

Most of the haircuts were not the NI. Not sure if it was a genuine effort or a troll but the New Iberia we know and love seems to at least go back to World War 1 and bears striking resemblance to what we still see today.

Lack of hair is a big part of the look and straightness is also a key element. The beauty of the cut is in the minimalism so a bowl cut with a mop top clearly is not in keeping with the look.

They tried to replicate the NIH in "O Brother" but what would folks in Hollywood know and it was set in Mississippi who may have seen one but are NOT natives to Louisiana. At least the Tim Blake Nelson character was partially tuned into the baw mentality. Man was saved and offered up some gopher to his friends.

You don't know your NIH history, baw. It's OK though, there's a link in OP to help.

I dont remember that but its well done.

My venture into the NIH was early high school when my aunt cut my hair way too short. I used to tell her to leave the bangs alone but she damn near chopped them off. I just combed it down a little and it stuck.

It’s the tiny bangs plastered to fringe the top of the forehead that always gets me.
