Sad. But parents are the ones who need to be recalled.
Yeah. This is more about the type of people that would purchase an above-ground pool than it is the pool itself.

Don’t know about all that. I just read the article and unrestrained seem to be the key. But I get what you are saying.

Mind as well recall underground pools then
Underground pools are only affordable to people who tend to be responsible parents

I'm guessing it's not the pools it was the water

I'm conflicted. On one hand, pools are inherently dangerous with kids too young swim around and no situation is truly safe.
On the other I can guarantee 100% that designers of these pools knew that adding straps mid-height was going to be a foothold for kids. Zero chance this wasn't pointed at and someone decided to ignore it.

I have a fantastic set of front & side window sun shade for my Honda that is custom fit to cover every inch of the windshield/windows, completely blocking out the sun & cooling the interior temps by 20+ degrees.
There is a warning label stitched on each sun shade that cautions: "ONLY USE HEATSHIELD IN A PARKED CAR."
The fact that they had to state that, tells me some frickin moron(s) drove with them up.

The recall is getting a repair kit (to install yourself I guess). It doesn’t seem like it that big of a deal and more of an agreed upon CYA with least costly option to companies by just sending out a kit when requested. No guarantee consumer requests kit, installs it if requested, or installs it properly.
But from link I saw some actual recalls with returns and replacements involved.
Some kid’s bikes from China with lead hazard.
A replacement order for some e-bikes made in China imported by Giant Bicycle Inc., of Newbury Park, California
Replace order for some Chinese batteries that came with another e-bike due to fire hazard concerns.
This last should have a link to the video of the bike battery flaming up in the elevator in China as some extra incentive to get battery replaced.

Consumers should contact Bestway, Intex or Polygroup to request a repair kit. In the interim consumers should ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended or, alternatively, drain the pool until the repair can be installed.

Seems like it would better off to recall the kids, since they are the ones being affected by it.

Not enough - ban water! Water kills.

underground pools
I'll be nit picky. The term is "in ground pool". Underground would actually have ground on top of it (ie Underground Railroad, etc)

Whoah! Shouldn't we always ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended? And by "children", I mean children of the age/ability that might use those straps to fall into a pool and drown.

Might as well ban mobile homes, too. Don’t most above ground pools owners live in mobile homes???
I have a family member who is a walking stereotype. Works at a plant, lives in a doublewide, and has an above ground pool

Stark contrast to the days of my youth when we rode horses & mules to the swimming hole.
No one ever got sued over swinging out on ropes from the cypress trees and water moccasins slithered away from the commotion.
The idea of a law suit probably never entered the lawyers minds those days.
