Not surprising...
I've talked to a lot of EV owners, mainly Tesla.
Cost of ownership, OTR charging, and out of warranty repairs are more than ICE cars.

Local driving seems reasonable
Anything of distance is the dumbest task

Buying a commuter car I can charge for free and never have to pay for gas or engine maintenance is virtue signaling?
Yeah that was a weird accusation.
I love our car. Home charging is the bees knees. The only maintenance I do is changing windshield wipers and air filters. It’s exceeded our expectations.

As a gas guzzling driver I have to admit that getting into a Tesla is interesting but not all that sexy IMO.
I personally like all the bells and whistles and knobs and shite to poke on and change temperatures and whatnot.
I’ll keep my computer stuff at home and enjoy my knobby vehicle with style and personality till they stop letting me.

Gas cars from the 60’s are just as good (or better) as than gas cars built today
Are we just ignoring safety features for this comparison?

In what world is cost of ownership higher?

Free chargers at work
That's an outlying situation. My primary place of business also installed some car chargers years ago, but it wasn't free. You had to swipe a credit card.

If anyone criticizes the U.S. Postal Service, wait till all P.O. trucks become EV's. Another gift our soon-to-be- ex President left us. Can't wait till our soon-to-be new Sec. of Defense finds out his Armed Forces will be driving EV's tanks.

46% admit it. I would bet 100% have had regrets.

Safety and environmental features are exactly why cars are so awful now, and after a few years, aren't worth fixing.

The real world.
Superchargers are expensive.
Excessive tire wear is a real thing.
Tesla parts are super-high, and be prepared to wait.
We won't talk about the worst depreciation on the planet...

Absolutely true.
For those that only do local commutes, it is a real savings.
More other points are accurate.

According to the survey, it mainly has to do with the scarcity of charging infrastructure, not the cars themselves.

Did you have to pay to get your home electrical service up-sized?

I have a 2017 Tesla S100 I bought new. I have free supercharging and full self driving. I love the car, with 80K miles, and have had no problems that were not covered under warranty. With free software updates, my car is much better , with more features, than the day I bought it. I frequently travel to Florida and have no issues stopping for 20-25 minutes at a supercharger.

Well, by any objective measure, that just isn't true.

Some I've talked to love them, and the software updates were something everyone mentioned, across the board, that they liked.
I was curious, as I am about all things car-related, so I like to listen and learn.

Eh, charge at the office or home, at least for me.
Tires, 100% correct. Probably a new set every 2 years depending on the model.
Also 100% correct. Haven't needed this yet but know it's the reality.
I absolutely love my car (Model 3 Performance). Most fun car I've ever driven. Zero regrets at this point.
