This thread reminds me of most of my friends. They are freaking clueless. S&P is up 3% in one year even with all the bullshite that just happened. Most people are dumb. You don’t lose money until you sell. Now unless you were planning to cash out your entire account last week, then this is a non issue.

Back to even for YTD. Don’t like the roller coaster type ups and downs… can’t wait til the China stuff is done and it’s back to steady growth.

only ones that need to be concerned are those close to retirement but in that case you better make sure you are going less risky the closer you get to retirement otherwise stay where you are and ride it out

You didn't short the market, baw? You gotta generate that alpha

In all seriousness, it's your 401k. You shouldn't be checking it everyday just enjoy the tax benefits of it.

No. I also don't check when things are shooting up. Unrealized gains and losses.

You have not lost any money unless you pull out of your funds. It will come back.

In the fall of1981 I wrote a check to LSU for my tuition for 15 hours. It was $350 (not kidding). In today's dollars that is about $1,231. Books were about $150. I could work full time at my minimum wage job between semesters and have plenty of money to pay for my education.

Good for you that your balance is so low. I'm probably down $80-$100k or more.
