34 States Had Higher Death Rate From 2018 Flu Than Coronavirus

In fact when you actually dive into the numbers what you see is pretty interesting: just seven states: New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Connecticut dominate the nation’s death count. In fact, these seven states comprise nearly two-thirds of the deaths in the entire country.
quote:
The biggest reason? Because their governors, led by Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York, made the disastrous decision to send nursing home patients infected with the coronavirus at hospitals back to their nursing homes.
quote:
The result? The coronavirus spread like wild fire through the most vulnerable populations in these states, leading to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths.
quote:
Governor Andrew Cuomo believed hospitals in New York were going to be overloaded because the “experts” had told him New York would need 140,000 beds. He thought he needed these hospital beds, so he sent the nursing home hospital patients back to the nursing homes. The sad reality? New York only ended up needing 19,000 beds. Meaning those patients never needed to be moved. This means these horribly flawed “expert” forecasts, which the media peddled as part of their fear porn and no one adequately challenged, directly led to the deaths of tens of thousands of nursing home patients who might otherwise still be alive.

ETA: One of my biggest take always from the article was thousands of lives were lost based off of decisions from a flawed model

Give it a rest, nothing you have to say will make a difference to any one that makes the decisions.

Don’t worry. Sleepy Joe is going to straighten this mess up.

If it's anyone I trust on this, it's Clay Travis. Fox news needs to scoop him up and go full throttle on destroying those msnbcucks.

As much as I think Cuomo is an idiot, was the decision AT THAT TIME really that far off base?
Back in March, everyone was thinking absolute worst case for EVERYONE, not just nursing home residents.
Some blame needs to be placed on the fear mongering scientists.

Let’s base health care and public policy on the opinions of a radio sports talk show host. I guess in a world where a reality tv guy is a choice for President it makes sense. I love Clay, but I think he’d even chuckle at this.

Are you asking if dropping covid bombs into nursing homes was a stupid decision at any time? Yes, it definitely was a very very stupid decision.

Yes of course. But not every governor made the very very stupid decision that Cuomo and a few other very very stupid governors made. Most didn't.

It only took shutting down the world to get it lower than the flu.

All the data he presented is factual and well sourced.

Yes, it was. If a Covid positive patient is ready for hospital discharge, you don't send them back to the nursing home. You need to quarantine them somewhere else until they aren't contagious. Use tents if you have to. It was crazy to seed the nursing homes with Covid positives. Most states had more sense than this.
