These are considered the high kids stuck on their float on the lazy river at the new rec center.

I spent my money on booze, coke and the occasional fraternity t-shirt, so yes I was hungry.

1.) I don’t believe that
2.) No sympathy. I went to LSU specifically because I could commute from home....which was almost 45 mins away. Couldn’t afford an apartment AND to party AND a bills so I made sacrifices. Worked full time, took night classes, lived at home. Yepp, sucked. No one is forcing you to go to college or an out of state school.

I ate like a king at LSU, house boy at a sorority(ate a lot more than what came out of the kitchen,) worked at the Bengal, the Caterie, and made $800/mo. tax free(in the 70s,) from LSU, it wasn't till I graduated that I started feeling poor

How? If you don't have a scholarship, but are going to school you shouldn't be homeless. If you are, why are you paying for tuition instead of a home? If you do have a scholarship, you most likely have paid housing so you shouldn't be homeless.
Everyone is hungry in college. Alcohol is expensive.

In an era when your shitty college job could pay your tuition.

I've never understood this. The kids in college who came from poor families were there because their smarts got them there for free. The kids in college who came from families who could pay for it had help from them.
I've never met a single person who went to college with only average grades (so can't get a scholarship) AND from a family that didn't help them out. Those people all got jobs instead. (Or student loans)
The ramen stereotype was always weird to me too. I don't think I knew anyone in college who actually ate that. Hell, I think I've only had it once?

And then they get bashed for having loans
My only point was comparing eras like that is stupid.
