big difference an a makes
During med school a lot of the programs are mixed… Med school medical doctor programs take many classes with other programs… Some of the MD students will be in A&P classes with Respiratory students…

Surely she has a pass through LLC to avoid that
An LLC doesn’t do anything but protect your personal assets and you can’t just avoid employment taxes
fricking idiot

Really nice gig but if you ever wanted a family you couldn’t do the traveling gig. I would think you could still make a good living at a permanent residence

Not where I went.
Also, these places now called themselves a health science center and the med school is within the health science center. So only the med students are inside of the medical school.

Assistant 300K a Year
CRNA 350K a Year
And we all wonder why healthcare is so expensive

Neither of those are typical salaries for these professions.. definitely outliers

Traveling gigs suck.
I dunno. Friend of mine is a travel nurse and absolutely loves it.
Finishes a contract, takes a month off then goes for the next contract.
Makes good money.

but she’s going to be 1099 and owe her 15% of the employment tax where as the doctor may also “make” relatively the same amount of money but his/her net pay will be a lot higher as an employee.
I Imagine she is using tax methods to get around her FICA but it is important to point out that being a contract employee is much different than a regular employee. PTO, Retirement match, healthcare, workmans comp, bonuses, potential severance, ect.
Employers love to not have to be responsible for all that and then some.
Making 300k 1099'd is similar to making 200k as an employee.

That's fine at 30. In the next five years when her periods start acting funny, and she wants to settle down and have some kids while she still can, she's gonna have to take a drastic paycut.

Not exactly...once you include taxes, benefits, retention bonuses etc. employed CRNAs will make similar compensation as locums/travel providers. Otherwise your staff would quickly resign & sign up for the higher travel rates.
This is very important in Healthcare compensation because the services are so standardized and globally in demand...it's 100x easier to move than with a regular old job.

A guy in the neighborhood has an investment property in Atlanta, a really nice house with a pool, and he only rents it to traveling nurses. He only advertises it on the traveling nurse forums/pages/etc. Flexible lease terms, month to month, or longer. Rent always on time, all they do is work, they don't party, they don't tear your shite up, they don't have pets. Perfect tenants.

Also, you have to consider the amount of student loan debt she saved by not going the MD route. In this day and age it's significant.

Read up on corp-to-corp contracting. You pay yourself a salary and can take distributions.

New Mexico now which has a lot of trouble attracting talent to move there. I see locum work there all the time.
Yep.
I know folks in the Hobbs/Carlsbad area who always say that if you need something medically done, go to Lubbock. One older guy in the Eunice (New Mexico, not Louisiana...not boudin) area I know has for years now driven to Lubbock for his dental appointments, rather than trust anyone around Hobbs.
