According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the bridge over Strong River on Highway 149 collapsed in a 'work-site accident' while a contractor was in the process of demolishing it for a bridge replacement project.

The OT makes fun of the "coulda been me" shite but my daughter's softball team Played Simpson Academy in the MAIS softball playoffs last week in Magee. This really could be one of those girls' dads or their relatives. Damn this is awfully sad.

I saw this earlier today and was surprised nobody on the OT had posted about it
RIP to the workers and prayers for the injured.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you're supposed to drive the CAT onto the bridge to whack the legs out.

Awful. Imagine you're just a baw showing up for work and then...it's over
A bridge collapsed under my dad some years back in a truck. He ended up being okay but it can happen just that quick.
That's why every morning before I go to work the last thing I tell my kids is that I love them.

Contractor was TL Wallace Construction out of Columbia, MS. Very sad situation.

When it fell, it was closed to public. Contractors were in process of demolishing when it collapsed and people died. So no it couldn't of been those softball team because bridge was fine then. It collapsed while demolishing, but in an earlier time frame than thought so people died. Details, details, details.

Lord, be with those impacted by this tragedy. We know that nothing happens that You do not permit to occur, but we also know that You grieve with the brokenhearted. Comfort the loved ones of those we lost, and heal those who were injured. May Your love and mercy be evident to the world through this awful event. Amen.

I read this as some of the girls family members might have been involved in this construction project near the town. That could absolutely be true. Reading comprehension and details, details, details.
