Very small. Looks like a woman's watch to me. But hey, get what you like. It's 37mm

anyone bought a Shinola or Filson watch yet?

Not necessarily bargain but they look pretty solid for the 500-1000 range....

I like IWC, Miramar is a classic. I just don't have the wrist size to pull off any of the big Pilots. I hope you do.

I think you would be surprised if you just stopped worrying about the size. I have small wrists and wear the Marathon JSAR all the time. Nobody ever says it looks freakishly big.

I know nothing about watches other than if I like the way it looks or not, so take it easy on me.

Is this a good watch at $229? If not, what would you recommend in a similar style/price range?

Broke, love your watch threads. Got any bang buck chrono watches you would suggest?

I've been looking for a watch for a while and really like the Orient Mako in black ($119 on Amazon with rubber band). I don't like wearing metal bands becaus of my harry appendages so I'm looking at the one with a rubber band and I plan to order a leather nato band ($16) and do a swap. Tell me why this would be a bad idea or if I should pull the trigger.

I have a Runwell. They are solid watches but don't get hung up on the made in Detroit marketing wank. Use a solid Ronda quartz movement and are well finished watches. I think they should be no more than $400 for the basic models though.

My buddy is a huge watchophile and has been convincing me of the appeal. He said that basically anyone who has a decent collection almost has to have the 007 or the 009. He's also recalling been selling me on the automatic Orients. Specifically the bambinos. But he mainly rocks his Squales--I think he's got 4. Just bought a new one that's ridiculous.

I've been looking for a Breitling Superocean Abyss 42 as my next watch purchase. I'm going to need another watch case too.

Can't disagree RE: 007.

I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on a Squale Militaire, but I don't think it's 3x better than my 007. Seiko will spoil you, when you are talking bang for buck.

ETA: I also have an Orient Bambino, it's a great looking watch. But I prefer my divers for the most part.

in general, I like the DW collection, but no diamonds

I'm not really into the bling

I like the simpleness of the plain design

Same for me. The picture with the diamonds isn't actually the watch I was looking at, but just another example of a minimalist design.
