Logical thinking would tell us that this is related to what the students have been learning in class this week. Why don't you ask your kid what this means? Unless they weren't paying attention, in which case they deserve to fail the assignment.

I would think that if it is math in a circle you would add in a circle. 1+2 is 3
3+3=6
6+4=10
10+5=15
15+6=21
21+7=28
28+
and so on until you reach the end.
3+3=6
