Data means nothing to these people at all. No child under the age of 11 has died in my state. 0.1% of the deaths in my state are from ages 11-20.

The 100 deaths is computer generated. They take number of positive flu tests, plug it into a model and thats the number given. Often why Flu deaths can swing by 20,000 a few years later. The numbers are constantly changing. They finally finalized the numbers for 2017.

Deaths in children with laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infection are reportable in the United States and 183 deaths were reported for the 2017–2018 season. However, influenza-associated pediatric deaths are likely under-reported as not all children whose death was related to an influenza virus infection may have been tested for influenza (7, 8). Therefore, we used a mathematical model to estimate the total number of pediatric deaths based on hospitalization rates and the frequency of death in and out of the hospital from death certificates, estimating that there were more than 600 deaths associated with influenza in children.

Have you seen Reddit? People 100% are saying just that.
I see the same fear on my schools Facebook as well with their announcement of in person or online as a choice. Plenty of parents are keeping their kids home because they don’t want their kids to catch COVID19 and die.
The focus should be on the teachers. Not the kids. Require masks. Teachers that don’t feel comfortable and handle the online kids. Stuff like that need to be solutions versus forcing everyone to online learning.

Let me preface this statement by saying I’ve been on record numerous times as saying I want schools back in the fall and believe they should be back. I just like playing devils advocate.
I think a lot of the argument isn’t necessarily for the kids safety but for the safety of the adults at the school and for those they (The kids) come in contact with. I don’t agree with it but that seems to be a lot of the chatter I’ve been picking up on.

Well what are they saying? Are they saying youths can still contract and transmit? Are they saying you have to show symptoms to transmit?
What’s up with daycares? Going to keep continuing to ignore whatever logic used to answer the above questions for them?
If the logic isn’t sound, you can expect straw arguments, because it is actually questioning the logic used rather than making a straw man for the sake of arguing.

This is at least understandable. People need to knock it off with crying about killing children due to covid by sending them back, unless they want to also champion for shutting schools down during flu season. Teachers, staff, admins, etc would be the ones to look out for. Send a handful of teachers to the hospital and you're kids are even more screwed.

It’s seems like it would be wiser to socially restrict grandma and grandpa as opposed to the kids
