All this bitching from both sides is the reason we are where we are at.
I disagree.
America has always been great, but we struggled under Carter, the last two years of Reagan, the last year or Bush, they last two years of Clinton, last two years of W Bush, and the last 12 years of Trump-Biden-Trump.
People are more focused on “D. Vs R” and ignore whether or not the president actually does a good job!
100 years from now, history will look kindly on Reagan and Obama, lean positive on Clinton and W Bush, and call Biden and Trump out for the abject failures that they are.

Why does it seem like the 200th anniversary was so much of a bigger deal? Like the 250th anniversary seems to be barely a bigger deal than the 249th or 248th anniversary.
Trump made it about himself instead of about the country as a whole. Dude could frick up a wet dream.

Because it was a bicentennial. What do you call this… 250? Heck, the bicentennial had its own currency created for wide circulation.
I enjoy the celebrations that there are this year, but if anything I feel like it’s a “stop trying to make it happen” moment in terms of trying to make it like a ___centennial celebration.
I was born in 78, so I will miss the tricentennial

People turning away from God resulting in the lack of respect for the rule of law and each other.

I’m really pleased that you’re so triggered and miserable over all of it. It really warms my heart on this momentous occasion.

I really appreciate your attempt at critical thinking.
However, you failed miserably because you just seem to be miserable and not really thinking clearly.
I’m sorry life didn’t work out for you very well.

I kinda agree with OP
No interwebs and social media back in the day made for less barrage from the weak side.
As a teen in Michigan we had a really cool license plate that year! Any states have commemorative plates this year? Michigan may have another one???

1976 was fifty years ago? Fml.

quote:Apparently you forgot the Obama and Biden years.
Or maybe, just maybe it’s because the Grifter in Chief decided to make it all about his own self-aggrandizement.
Biden and his record breaking pre-emptive pardons and Obama with his behind the scenes involvement with russia gate and lawfare, doomed all hope of non partisan politics.
Note - La now has more republicans that democrats - people are tired that the corrupt radical left is trying to destroy our country.

The country was not invaded by 50 million foreigners at that time. Literally 30% of this country is here just for welfare and money and feels no other connection to the country.
New York City is comprised of like 60% foreign born inhabitants... the mayor feels closer to an African nation than his own city.
Its not a shock its not the same. Has absolutely everything to do witn dumping millions of foreigners into the country.

Not sure about 1976, but LA had its own bicentennial

Truth bomb. We have less than 50 years left. Maybe 30.
