Only 28% could locate it on a map of the Middle East region.

Demographic breakdown of those responding correctly:

quote:

Voters were more likely to support (47 percent) the airstrike that killed Soleimani than oppose it (40 percent). Attitudes on Trump’s call fell neatly along partisan lines: 70 percent of Democrats disapproved of the strike while 85 percent of Republicans approved of it, including 61 percent of Republicans who strongly approved.

Notably, there were no statistical differences in support for the strike — or on a host of broader questions about its potential impacts — between those who could identify Iran on a map and those who could not. The survey of 1,995 registered voters has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

The majority of Americans are ignorant sheep.

As a lover of maps, I’m saddened by the geographical ignorance of the population.

I once asked a girl to point out Miami on a wall map. She pointed at Montana while saying that it’s up there somewhere.

I also asked another girl what the largest state in the US is and she replied Canada.

Most concerning is the number of dots in the middle of the ocean.

You would think that people would do better on this one since it's labeled.

As long as the guy whose job it is to aim the missile knows, we should be okay.

Possible spatial recognition problem with the boundaries on the map. You have no idea how ignorant some people are.

Scholar who created the map has labeled Alaska (AK) as Alabama (AL).

You could pick any random girl you see and ask her where the location of just about any state she’d probably have no clue. No way 20% of the women polled knew where Iran was.
