One is reaching epidemic proportions
Has nothing to do with the 24 hour news stations and message boards, FB, twitter.... Nope it's an "epidemic"

I've lived in Nola all my life, almost 30 yrs, until very recently (had to move for work) I've never been a victim of any crime, much less violent. Neither has anyone in my family including parents and grandparents. Guess we're all just lucky. Has nothing to do with situational awareness and common sense. Luck does come into play b/c shite happens that can't be avoided sometime. That's life.
I don't know what the answer is to stop the senseless violence in the black community. I think the elders need to have some control of these kids but apparently they're afraid of nothing, not even death. Well maybe ghosts. Round em up and lock them in a haunted house maybe?

I watched this thread grow and people discuss any variety of topics but lets actually say what anyone who has grown up around NOLA knows. This kind of thing didn't happen in the Quarter 15 years ago because NOPD ran a hard core no BS policy of "you don't belong here so move along" policy. In essence, if you were young and a minority and not patronizing a bar, you were "encouraged" to leave the area. They didn't allow crowds to block the street and they didn't allow people to fight. But, lo and behold, the very principles supported by the majority of this very board (i.e. Civil Rights and police oversight) have changed their methods. So this is what we get.
Let me say this, I grew up down there as the epitome of a privileged white boy and I was scared of the NOPD in the Quarter. Maybe that wasn't a bad thing. They ruled with an iron fist but it was safe to go there. Now they don't and, apparently, it isn't.
Seeing this BS happening on Bourbon pains me greatly. NOLA MUST HAVE a "safe zone" for tourists if it is to survive.

so what will be an "acceptable" level of crime? it pisses me off whenever I see this justification. if there's one murder or 100 the victims are just as dead, are they not?

Only way to fix this is to have a major long term campaign to eradicate drug lords and traffickers.
Problem is these New Orleans Yats don't want to do anything to take back their city.

I say just burn the Quarters down, Really nothing there but a rat hole. And yes, I grew up there. In fact, they just need to blow up all levels around the city and let it flood once and for all.

Damn. I was just down in NOLA and at Pat O's last weekend around the same time. 2-3 a.m.

Saying "these New Orleans Yats don't want to do anything to take back their city" is about as ignorant as it gets. You really don't know what you're talking about.

Actually crime by black youths 13-19 years old is the highest its ever been according to data published at the end of last year.
To be perfectly honest I dont give a shite who is committing crime. Never have. I just want them out of society and off the streets. I am little crazy though. I think the death penalty should be the sentence that anyone gets for committing murder or attempted murder. Start frying these sick bastards by the truck load and I promise shite would change.
Also start putting parents in jail to serve the same time as their juvenile children. frick em for being piece of shite parents. Yea after the kid turns 18 the parents would be in the clear but anything younger punish them all.
ETA: The same data showed that prescription drug abuse among White youths 13-19 is the highest its ever been. Adderall and things of the like were the main problems there.

That's because every fool with a dick can produce a kid. It takes a man to be a father. The black population has too many fools with dicks and not enough men wanting to be fathers for their children. Nothing will change until this mindset changes. The white population is just as much to blame because we continue to accept the welfare/ entitled generation by re-electing the same politicians over and over while hoping there will be changes.

exactly what needs to happen again. The PC/denial crowd won't like it, but the city should just institute a initiative aimed at removing anyone clearly underage (who clearly isnt accompanied by adults/family) from Bourbon past a certain hour. Cops should have the authority to ask someone for id and what their business is if they're loitering outside of Chris Owens and look like they can't drive.
Harsher methods are needed than in place today.

Some people never made it past level 1-1 on regular Nintendo Mario. I always just laugh at people who think the solution is to just do a clean sweep of the drug dealers. They literally put zero thought into that
