I'm still working on finishing $150K repair from Ida, if we get hit again my wife said she's heading inland and staying there.

Then she’ll get hit by tornadoes every other year while we on the gulf coast say “whew, at least all we have to worry about is hurricanes”.

What we’ve been through in LC the last few years, I certainly would prefer to avoid. But if it’s just a “sloppy mess” as rds said, I may take it. SWLA is not catching any of these stray thunderstorms. We could use some rain.

For the people, like me, who don’t know anything - are there any books that you would recommend on the subject? We wouldn’t mind learning more so I can at least understand what you and RDS say/

The easiest way is to follow Hurricane Track on Twitter and YouTube. Also, Levi Cowan. Mark with Hurricane Track does a weekly update video on YouTube this time of year and daily when there is an active system/storm.

He does a very good job of making the complex easy to understand, and he will point you toward people who are on the leading edge of Tropical forecasting/research.

Hurricane Track's latest weekly discussion

As far as books go, you can quickly get bogged down in the complicated details to the point that your grasp of the simpler aspects will suffer. With some of these guys, like Mark and Levi, you'll get the basics with some of the complex background state stuff sprinkled in. If you go back and watch some of the offseason discussions, you'll notice how it all builds toward the season. You'll begin to see and understand the big picture.

I learned everything I know about tropical forecasting by reading peej's posts throughout the years.

Would you say this gif is more appropriate than the other one, in this particular situation?

Still there nine days out but starting to look like a Florida event which makes more sense if something develops.
