Old white men? Maybe this link will educate you. Spent some time with some of their members at a show in GLS and have nothing but positive things to say about their group.

When the 84 Vette came out I spent a lot of time talking about it with a guy I worked offshore with(he knew more about it than me).

He went in from a hitch and bought one. He was in his mid-20s and black. I think they took his money with no problem.

I'll bet they did!
You were close to buying one, right?

I live in KY, and your a dumbass.

I have a 2015 Corvette Z06. I'm no old man. In Kentucky there are a LOT of younger Corvette drivers- especially females.

I like the look of this, but would not buy one myself. I'm amazed at the people who would line up to buy the first model of a complete redesign, which includes a mid engine change. From GM of all people.

I do recommend the Bowling Green plant tour, went on it years ago, and it was a lot of fun.

I think it's gonna be at least a year or more, after they release the initial ones, before the hotter models show up.

Can't wait that long...

I think Corvettes have always been trashy. The last decent one was 1962.

They have never been real sports cars. Carroll Shelby proved that a long time ago. They have not very sophisticated and too heavy compared to a Porche, Ferrari, Mclaren, etc

This new one is priced right and it is probably worth what Government Motors is asking for it.

Definitely not.

Your opinions on motorsports are formed straight out of outdated stereotypes. Manual transmissions are fun. DCTs and modern autos are much faster in any kind of competitive setting. Clearly the "old white men" know something you don't.

So much stupid I don't know where to begin. First, look up the name Zora Arkus-Duntov. Then after your history lesson, take a look at the preorder figures for the C8. This generation corvette has accomplished the precise exact opposite of what you are saying. You couldn't be more wrong if you claimed the sky was bright purple.

Porsches aren't exactly light cars.

The lightest 911 will only be a couple hundred pounds (likely less) lighter than this new vette.

All of the non-GT Porsches will be heavier in all likelihood.

Never good to talk about cars with non-car guys...

They think the national speed limit should be 55, the only good side item is mashed potatoes, and sex is for procreation only.

Messed around with the configurator, here's how I'd build mine:

Ceramic grey metallic with all of the carbon fiber I could option, pewter wheels, and yellow accents

Interior 3LT with black leather/carbon fiber/yellow accents

fricking hell this is a good looking car.

And yet they outperform them regularly on the race circuit. And please elaborate how one man (Shelby) “proved” they are not a sports car. This whole post sounds like one man’s opinion.

The lightest 911s will be about ~300 pounds lighter but the Turbo S will not be much lighter. The C8 is a little porky in the mid-engine class but most of them can afford to use a lot of CF where for the price the C8 is mainly aluminum. You can also see the difference when compared to a 488 or a 720S which are 400-500 pounds lighter but again with a lot of CF and the accompanying cost.

The bottom line is the C8 is a lot of performance for the price arguably the best bang for the buck out there and that is pretty confident even though it is just a bunch of numbers on paper at this point.

The OT lately has a lot of numbnuts stating their opinion as fact when even a very basic Google search would yield accurate information.

Some things are subjective, especially in matters of style or taste, but some of these threads sound like angry Facebook moms with their "I want to speak to the manager" haircuts.

I thought the rumors were 3300-3400 lbs for the vette?

A turboS is pushing 3600 these days and that's the 991.2s. The 992s will be even heavier.

You better hurry up and throw your name in the hat, if you really want one. This is probably the last body style that is successfully sold by Corvette. Once US car companies are prohibited from producing carbon emitting vehicles, lots of things are going to change with the auto market, esp traditional performance brands, in the U.S. and abroad. And some, like Corvette will become momento collectables.

They'll always be produced, they'll just be taxed a frick ton and gas prices will become exorbitant.
