I know this may sound like a dumb quest but has anyone taken the bar without going through law school.

Yes and No. Now, A pre-requisite to sit for the bar is to have a degree from an accredited law school.

I think way back in the day this was not the case. Some states had rules if you graduated from the right school, you didn't have to take the bar. Ole Miss was one, if you were an Ole Miss law grad, you didn't have to take the MS bar.

They changed the law back in the 70s to require passage from law school before taking the Bar. But before, anyone could take it.

The main character from Catch Me If You Can passes the Bar in Louisiana without going to law school.

If I recall correctly, he actually had a forged transcript. He also took it three times.

Huey Long didn't go to law school. He convinced the La. Supreme Court to let him sit and passed.

Better than the dental school. I heard they are just passing everyone. No need to meet requirements or take boards. You made it to senior year, here’s your license

A lot of people who can make themselves cram for a few months and are decent at writing essays could pass the bar without law school no problem.

Just pass them all, but the first time they make any kind of legal mistake, then disbar them for life.

Frank Abagnale took, and passed, the Louisiana bar exam in the 1970s without going to law school. But he's a genius.

In truth Louisiana has a difficult bar exam compared to most other states. It's the scope and sheer volume of material that makes it so, with no multiple choice, multi state component, at least not back when I took it. Making it a one day test will make it much easier, and is a stroke of good fortune for this summer's test takers. Hopefully they get graded on a curve.

It’s been 30 years, but the Multi-State was harder than the LA bar exam when I took them. The multi-state was 3 consecutive days and the LA bar exam was M-W-F, a little sleep between testing days was awesome. Also, the multi-state exam had to test on laws that dated back a long time ago to get to a point in time where the laws in most states were more similar than they are now, thus, you were tested on old laws that you did not study for in school.

LA bar is too easy already, postpone it until it can be the normal test. It sucks for those wanting to take the bar now, but everybody is being affected by the pandemic. I don’t think making the bar a one day test does anyone any good. Hell, the test takers are probably going to get hit with the hardest questions in each area and they won’t have easier questions to balance out their score.

BE is Business Entities. It is a part of the BENI exam -- Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments.

Yes, exact opposite of what the board wanted but Honor Guard pulled an Oprah. “You get a license, you get a license....”. What pisses me off the most is knowing they won’t go back and require the test later on.
