2020 Christmas tree decorating contest

Friends,
As Advent Sunday came to a close, I thought I had finished decorating our sitting room tree, which is where we focus our decorating. Last night, though, I found a missing box of Radkos and made room for them. In total, we have 425 Radkos on this tree and I have lost track of the number of lights. One thing most decorators fail to do is put up adequate lights in the tree. An extra ten strands of lights is not going to cut it. This is the birthday of Jesus, our Savior, the Light of the world!
For a twelve foot tree, 10,000 lights should be a minimum. The difference between 2,000 lights and 10,000 is like the difference between Olive Garden and Impastato's. There is nothing difficult about putting on lots of lights, so there really is no excuse not to make the tree a beacon of hope, a model for what the world can and should be, ablaze in a bright incandescent overcoat of hope. Should not all our efforts be signs of faith, hope, and love? Perhaps at this time of year no virtue is more important than hope, and light is the visible manifestation of hope. Light them, friends, light them so that your home glows!
Last year, our dear friend, buttocks, won this cherished event. I hope we will get hundreds of submissions this year. Please, friends, post a picture of your Christmas tree.
Mother forbids me from posting an image here of ours, but I will share a tree that is quite similar from a fellow Radko collecting friend, Ann Free:
Ours is a bit brighter and we do not have as many vintage Radkos. I suspect, though, that my collection will surpass hers this decade. I hope to have three such trees in our home by 2025, one for each of the Persons of the Trinity. May your blessings be many and your hope everlasting.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

TL, why wouldn't you post this at 655pm instead of am? You know damn well nobody will post their tree at this hour.
I'll see you this evening with my entry. Good grief.

That’s a great tree. I’m a big believer in having way too many Christmas lights.

What the heck is a Radko and why is it “special”?

Arse, your UT emblem was so jarring it ruined my morning poo. Why would you do that?

Status ornaments. $40-100 each.
Friend, I may be willing to pry with some older radkos that are extremely heavy. They have very religious themes. If you’re interested, let me know. I’ll take pics and email them.

Couldn’t find the usual tree topper so had to improvise.

Just remember trees were first brought indoors as a pagan celebration of Saturnalia and were first lit up with candles by a Lutheran. The pope didn't put up a Christmas tree in the vatican until the 1980s. It wasn't even a thing in the US until Queen Elizabeth put one up and it ended up on the cover of a magazine in the 30's or 40's.
