Longtime lurker but not a poster. I’m looking for a used Tundra between 2016-2021. I know how to use cars.com, etc. and FB marketplace so I’m looking in all the typical places so don’t need anyone to send me links. I saw a post yesterday about someone thinking of getting rid of his 2016, and it made me think to post and see if anyone else might also be about to get rid of theirs. And I know that these trucks are a favorite of people on here.

I’m open to a wide range of models/mileage in the 2016-2021 model years. My unicorn would be a 2020 or 2021 TRD Pro. Stock is preferred. Backstory is I had a Sequoia 5.7 V8 for almost 10 years and loved it. Got the new car itch so got a new Sierra about a year ago. While it’s OK, it hasn’t been trouble free and I miss the 5.7 V8. So looking to into an older Tundra. I’m in St. Tammany, but willing to travel a good distance (out of state too) for the right one.

If you have something and have considered selling/trading in, let me know. You can post here or send me an email. Email is these three words/number together “northshore” and “gardener” and “11” - no spaces. It’s a gmail account.

Also, if anyone has any particular years to avoid, drop that knowledge on me!

Got a 2010 and a 2020. Unfortunately, they will likely never be for sale.

Dealership offered to buy back the 2020 at full price paid after about 2 years. But, all they had to replace it cost more and was defective (turbo V6).

You do realize every dealership regardless of brand does this to get you back in the store and buying a new truck. It has nothing with your perceived treasure!

Yes, it is typically always more expensive to buy replacement vehicles.

OP you should contact this guy or figure out which lot in Houston to get it real cheap!

Cheap Tundra

I have a 21 limited, metallic grey with nightshade, with 25K miles. I suspect I will never sell it, but it is always for sale for the right price.

That was a crazy time. Sold a 2019 Ram in 2021 with 30k miles for $4k more than I paid for it new in 2019. That'll probably never happen again in my lifetime.

This doesn't help you, but I had a 2016 V6 5.7 and I traded it in in 2023 for a Tahoe. Dumbest fricking thing I've ever done. Still pissed at myself for doing that. That Tundra was a tank that drove like a luxury car. Good luck, my friend.

So you would go tundra again? Been wanting a GMC but keep reading about transmission problems. Lookin at Ram vs Ford… but is the only lnock against toyota the gas mileage?

Yeah. That’s me. My sierra needed a new engine at 10k miles. Had a couple other random issues too, so GM agreed to buy it back. Not making that mistake twice, which is why I’m going back to that 5.7 V8.

There's not a day that goes by that I'm not in the market for a Tundra.

2013 with 250k miles. Never had an issue. Not for sale, but feel free to make me an offer.

The 250k in mileage makes me hesitant and want to throw out an offer of 3,500.

Do all the maintenance and how far do those old Tundras last?

On a much smaller scale, I bought new a 1990 Honda Civic three door. 4 speed manual, A/C. $6,700.00

18 months later with ~30k on it, I sold it for $7,300.00.

Only time I’ve ever made money on a car.

I stayed pat on vehicles through COVID, had a 2018 model & a 2020 model purchased late in ‘19.

It was insane for car dealers, wholesalers and auction houses.

The 5.7 V8 can go to 500,000+ miles with relatively minor maintenance. Those engines are amazing. My Sequoia had 220,000 and was running fine when I sold it. I only ever changed the oil and other wear items (brakes, etc.).

I’m not trying to convince anyone to sell their truck. Everything is for sale at a price premium.

Well ignoring the latest Toyota generation (hope they get that figured out), why do you have so many people on here using American trucks still?

Toyota needs to manufacture these trucks in Japan. No unions, just hard working people who are passionate about their trade. The Japanese culture is all about hard work and precision. The US these days is about entitlement and handouts.

No thanks. Runs like it did the day I bought it. Should easily get 300k. Brother has a 4 runner with 350k and never has had one issue.

I have the gen2 and yes, buy one. I would not yet buy a gen3. Engine issues still exist in new ones.

Good luck man. I was looking for one and a 20- 21 Tundra with lowish miles and decent trim package costs a fortune. I was looking at a 21 Limited and they were asking higher than the original sticker.
