Can't be having none of that nonsense. Teachers unions everywhere are against school choice.

Damn, I used to live in those apartments 16-17 years ago. They weren't bad then but I have no clue what they are like now.

I lived there for a year in like 1999. It was pretty rad. A 3 bedroom was like a damn mansion to a couple college kids.

No, but I’m 100% of the opinion it being illegal doesn’t help the cause. Illegal leads to jail time. Jail time leads to more jail time, absentee parents, kids grow up in that lifestyle, kids repeat that lifestyle, and so on and so forth.

I'm behind this. It baffles me why a bunch of congressmen don't get in bed with some conglomerate and they make marijuana legal and big companies farm it, package it and sell it. Then tax the hell out of it. It wouldn't end all of this but it would put a dent in it.

An of course create other problems, but also a lot of tax revenue.

Because they're already in bed with the Private Prison-Industrial Complex?

You are correct.

Even if I know very little about a subject when a union comes out and publicly supports or opposes a subject, it tells me everything I need to know.

This pisses me off when I hear it. “You are lucky you have good kids.” It isn’t luck but the product of good parenting dammit.

I'd be surprised if this was weed related.

Ultimately the parents do have some control over who interacts with their kids such as choosing a school, neighborhood, extracurricular activity, etc. It is much harder to become friends with someone if they don't go to your school, live in your neighborhood or are on your sports team. The kid will ultimately pick who in those subgroups they befriend but you can increase the chances of success by picking the right groups.

and that is the #1 reason why people in SLA send their kids to private schools, and why private schools have no problem kicking a kid out of their school in a heartbeat if they don't fit the culture that the school is trying to create to mold the young boys and girls into good functioning members of our society.

Bluebonnet at Jefferson? That's definitely not a bad area but there are some older apartments around there which I'm sure aren't as good as they once were.

Her name should have been a giveaway. I don’t know of a single black American with an Italian last name.

One of the news stories I read earlier in the week said his body was found with a handful of prescription pills. I am going to guess opioids.

And the black men shot by the police were conducting illegal activities and resisting arrest. Race had nothing to do with it. Yet, the papers say “white cop”.

Jordan LaCombe can't stop thinking about what could have been.

If the front gate had been locked, if she had scraped together the money for their new apartment, if her brother had realized the danger he was facing — maybe then his life would have been saved.

"I know I shouldn't go down that rabbit hole," she said. "This just happened so fast."

I feel like she's missing a big one... "If my brother hadn't been a drug dealer"
