Family devastated after 20-year-old killed on Jefferson near Bluebonnet: 'That's just an execution'
Well, this sure got buried.
It’s such a sad thing seeing what drugs and that lifestyle destroyed what otherwise could have quite easily been a successful and fulfilled life. This is going to happen all over the place, more and more and more as time goes on until people start taking a more active role in their kid’s lives and give them role models and norms and values to build their lives upon. The lower our society sinks into the gutter the more critical it is going to be to be super active in kid’s lives. Good kids and troubled kids aren’t born that way. They are shaped that way by good people in their lives.

The shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Jefferson Shadows apartment complex near Bluebonnet Boulevard. The death was not disclosed previously due to law enforcement straying from its usual protocol for notifying the public about homicides.
LaCombe was one of three people killed that Friday across the parish, two shootings and one pedestrian fatality that police believe was intentional. The killings came amid a prolonged spike in Baton Rouge homicides as the murder rate has reached a historic high. However, the past week has seen a welcome respite from the violence with several days of relative peace.

Witnesses described seeing a white vehicle flee the scene right after the shooting. Detectives matched license plate information from witness accounts and surveillance video to a rental car registered to Combetta. She faces a count of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, and Johnson faces a count of principal to first-degree murder and principal to illegal use of a weapon.
The three suspects had come to the Baton Rouge apartment complex to buy narcotics from LaCombe, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks said. The warrants for Johnson and Combetta don't include information about a possible motive, and it's not clear how the alleged drug deal devolved into a homicide.

By the way, this applies to everyone

Not St George. St George starts on the other side of Jefferson.

Don’t sell drugs in St George and you won’t be executed.

The Advocate didn't list their races

Don’t get into drugs and your chances of being murdered drop significantly.

He was into drugs. Race likely had nothing to do with it.

Detectives identified Johnson as a suspect after he somehow left his wallet and ID at the scene, lying in the parking lot next to the victim, according to his arrest warrant.
Well he was obviously the brains of the organization.
Seems like a long trip to score some dope.

While true, sometimes there is simply nothing a
Parent can do. Kids make choices and sometimes those choice are bad, no matter how hard anyone tries. Be the best parent you can be. After that, it’s on the kid to do the right things.

You think if this were reversed the Advocate wouldn't have "white man shoots black man to death execution style near St. George" as the headline?

Come on. You know damn well why no one is talking about it and it got buried.

You’re right about that, but of all the people I’ve personally known who ended up dead as a result of drugs they all had one thing in common, and that was a lack of parental involvement in their lives, broken homes, and/or abusive households. Most every one of them had parents who were simply MIA

That's more than one thing but you are spot on

I’m sad to see a 20 year old was killed, but don’t get mixed up in illegal
activities. You’re bound to run into a bad hombre eventually.

He was a good boy. On his way to college

I was across the street at the jambalaya place when this happened. Tons of people saw this go down. Car flew out of there, and it seemed like 25 cop cars came flying in.
Whoever the shooter was, they weren't thinking AT ALL. The entire street pretty much froze and looked on when those shots were fired.

Damn, I used to live in those apartments 16-17 years ago. They weren't bad then but I have no clue what they are like now.

There are no good ones anymore, unfortunately. If you find one with high rent that just means a few trashy people will rent a 3br and split the rent, bringing their garbage to the nice complexes.
