Why are so many people on cruise ships right now? Unless these are 30+ day cruises, I need the reason to feel bad for these people explicitly stated.

It pisses me off that these idiots get on cruises during a pandemic, get sick, then expect the USA to save them from their foreign-flagged vessel. I guess Panama and the Bahamas' healthcare systems aren't what they want.

Most of the cruise ships stuck at sea right now were worldwide 100 day+ cruises that left in Jan. I saw 1 that actually left in December. A few left in early March. These aren't the typical 3 and 4 day carnival booze cruises that are out there right now.

pick one out and I'll post it's 30+ day historical track

Damn. I never known of anyone do one of these

They should go back to their home tax base, where they fly their flag from. You pay taxes there, take your problems there.

We have cruised on two ships from that list.

another 8-9 at the Port of Tampa, which you can include since the only port in Florida is apparently Miami

Thank you. Those people are exempt from my stern and resolute judgment.

The cruise ships docked on the Mississippi Gulf Coast over the last three weeks have been directed to leave by the close of business on Friday, the Port of Gulfport announced Thursday.
Those 20+ will soon be joined by another 4 as Mississippi just told the Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Freedom, and the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas to get the frick out of Gulfport tomorrow.

Carnival alone has over 6000 people sitting on their ships and the earliest they will be able to disembark is late April at best per Carnival's SEC filings yesterday.

A lot of these ships have been out so long because no country would allow them to disembark their passengers. They have been floating waiting for the chance to dock. Most if not all these ships are registered in foreign countries. Trump wanted companies like US company Carnival to dock in the Bahamas because that where they registers their ships.

The Freedom Valor are already offshore, the Glory already left.
The Majesty is still sitting at the dock in Gulfport
Norwegian Getaway is still in New Orleans
