Two women were found shot to death in Montegut Wednesday night, authorities said.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 37-year-old Hope Nettleton and 34-year-old Brittany Cormier, both of Montegut.
Deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators responded around 10:20 p.m. to 103 Montegut St. to investigate shots fired, the Sheriff’s Office said. They found the two women suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead shortly later.
As of noon Thursday no arrests have been made and police did not release a motive.
Sheriff Tim Soignet said the two women lived near each other.
“They were both neighbors,” he said. “One of them was over at the house where the incident occurred. They were there at the same time. We’re still trying to work out all the details.”
“We’re picking up descriptions of vehicles and are looking at a lot of surveillance cameras in the area to try to pick up as much information as we can,” Soignet said. “I have a lot of guys out there who are working hard on this since last night. It’s a very active investigation.”

Is Montegut in Louisiana?
This is terrible.
Montegut was once a thriving community. South Coast Sugars had a mill there and it was a company town. Along withTexaco having a large facility there to service the inland oil fields.
Also shrimp, oyster and fish production. It had a movie theater, grocery and hardware/supply stores and machine shops.
