Chicken, I think part of his point is that the police have become less like your old school neighborhood cop and more like a military force in recent years. Cops used to have a badge and a revolver... now when you see them on TV they're all wearing tactical gear, carrying rifles, and riding around in MRAPs.
Perhaps this change to the way they do things has also changed their way of thinking. If you train a cop to be a cop then that's his mindset... if you train a cop to be a soldier well then...
ETA - look up the 1033 program

Not really. Louisiana has more legal guns per-capita than any other state in the union
Got a link? 60% of the residents in Wyoming own a gun for instance.

I guarantee the blacks have just as many guns.
Yeah, but they hold them sideways and are less accurate. Also have much fewer high powered/long distance weapons.

It looks like we have a legit sniper if he was able to get a cop in the face and another in the shoulder from 220 yards away....
A legit sniper? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you personally own multiple guns? 220 yards isnt shite with a rifle, especially if it was a "legit sniper" pulling the trigger as you stated above.
Edit: I see I was a few pages behind the thread flow

Chris Kyle said it in his book. I'll take his word. Plus I know a good bit about guns and shooting and stuff.
Thanks for playing though.
Stop watching movies
Wow! So you read a book and know about stuff. Well that trumps my 20 years of real world experience. Carry on there Commando.

Cops 20 years ago = Wanted Respect
Cops Today = Demand Obedience
They've gone from were here to serve you to shut your mouth or you'll get shot or thrown in jail on trumped up charges.

He was probably an extremely well trained sniper sent by the government to use an AR15 and make it look like he was just an "average" shooting redneck so the government can make a push to ban more guns.
Don't be surprised to find casings from armor piercing M855 5.56mm rounds and a spit cup at the scene with the DNA of some crazy country boy who just happens to vote Republican and has posted on social media about how he hates the President.

220 yards
Per the police captain it was 125 yards and they are "pretty sure" it was with a pistol

Cops have changed their gear, only in response to what's going on the criminal world. Old school, they only had to worry about criminals carrying and using a pistol. Now, the criminals are armed to the hilt with military type weapons, body armor, etc. They HAVE to militarize simply so they are not outgunned in the gun battle. It's not even a choice for them.

Again, this is driven by the criminals out there. If someone would train the criminals to only act out using pistols and handguns, the cops can go back to just being "cops". But when the criminals are militarizing and bringing AK's to the gunfights, cops have to respond in kind, or get outgunned and massacred.

There's been no other change. It's just the cops fault. Am I understanding you correctly?
In other words, only one side is to blame?

Terd, you aren't seriously suggesting that police should be out at this protest with a revolver only are you? I get the whole "militarization" controversy and I am not saying tactical units are for every day use but you don't see a need for them ever? How about the guy getting killed Tues in North Baton Rouge? Was that a situation for a guy with a revolver and badge?

If you were a cop, would you want to be like Andy and Barney? Hell no! Not in the slums the police have to patrol today.

BS. Where was all this gear when fully auto machine guns were allowed on the streets in the 60-80's?
It's what it always is: a power grab.
I'm tired of scare tactics.

Meh, I think the bigger issue is the moral decay of certain segments of society. I can't imagine having to deal with these people on a daily basis.
The fact that Obama or Holder or any other leader are not addressing the larger issue is disconcerting. There will be no progress unless this segment of the population makes drastic changes on their end.

And you know this how? If anything, the fact that both cops survived would mean the shooter is inexperienced. Not the "legit sniper" as continue to harp on with zero factual knowledge on the incident.
