FLOWOOD, Miss. —Two men accused of trying to cash a fake $100,000 lottery ticket faced a judge today.

Odis Latham, 47, and Russell Sparks, 48, both of Columbus faced a Rankin County judge Tuesday. Both suspects pleaded not guilty.

The would-be crooks used super glue to attach winning numbers to a losing ticket and tried to cash it in Monday at the Mississippi Lottery office in Flowood, authorities said.

Lottery officials called Flowood police and stalled the culprits until officers arrived and arrested them, authorities said.

Trying to cash a counterfeit lottery ticket is a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

It's just impossible to describe to outsiders the kind of shite we deal with every day down here. They just flat out wouldn't believe us.

That's illegal?

I knew trying to pass off computer generated counterfeit lotto tickets is a big no no ... but superglued-on numbers?

Someone should have had some fun with that one.

Due to the unbelievable level of naked stupidity on full display here, I almost feel like they deserve SOMETHING for their efforts.

How about the judge ordering the courtroom bailiff to give them each a pie to the face prior to handing down the sentencing?

This is like trying to pass off Monopoly money as real. I would have laughed and said GTFO.

Stupid? Yes, obviously.

Deserving of jail time or a $50,000 fine? No.
