Where's all the leaves on the trees? Looks more like winter to me.

I dunno... Maybe Kevin Costner can explain it.

Actor Kevin Costner is narrating a documentary set to air Sunday on the National Geographic Channel about Guijarro’s journey to authenticate the photograph and the history behind the image.

Where's his guns?

Or did he have his CC permit?

Billy the Kid's legacy has now been tarnished by a picture of him playing croquet.

We have several trees out in front of the office that lost their leaves this summer. Stress from the heat is what the lawn guy said. If this was summer in New Mexico I'm guessing it was hot as well.

Why does it look like the dead of winter? Bare trees, bare ground, warm clothes.

Looks like a $2 pic to me.

Long sleeve jackets, pants and shirts were the style back then. You expect to see Billy the Kid wearing jorts and a polo?

Here's a picture of Summer in Santa Fe, NM in the 1800's. No leaves on trees either. Again, hot as frick.

Article says that the pic was taken in the summer of 1878, but there aren't any leaves on the trees?

Not all trees have leaves in the summer, and it could be late summer up north and the leaves already fell off, or the tree could be dead.

The tree probably died of lead poisoning.
