Class of 2003 checking in here.
Mainly for what others have said. With all of the different boards, tt's a great place to easily get news/information on a variety of topics. Layout is a lot more friendly on the eyes than some of the other message boards out there.

The secret 20+ year member boards are awesome. I can't quit before I get to see them!
I joined after Katrina to find some folks. The site has always been a good news source for local info.

I keep coming back for the news and open discussions. The free range of topics is always interesting and it’s a great place to come if you need help or have a question. Love the layout as well.

Looks like I signed up in 2008. My dad and I used to pick one road game each football season to travel to. My siblings went to Alabama and my whole family are Bama fans. I took a scholarship to Troy. So we'd check the schedules early in the summer and see where each team had road games and pick one. Troy played at LSU in 2008. I forget if it was supposed to be first week, or maybe the 2nd or 3rd week of the season, but it was postponed due to a hurricane or tropical storm. Rescheduled for later in the season. Back then I would go sign up for an account on that team's message board, just to ask the locals about gameday and other things. I've stuck around for 16 years because of being entertained and one of the best sources for news around.

I stumbled across this place the year after the '03 championship season. At first it was all about football and baseball, but then the OT and the Poli Board caught my interest.
The Poli Board has become an addiction for me. Like you said, you can find out about everything that's going on in the world of politics here first. Long before networks even mention it. Sometimes even days before you hear about anything on Fox or CNN.
The first thing I check every morning is the GMT thread. I rarely respond there, but always check it and enjoy it. Then I'll scroll through the OT threads before heading over to the Poli Board to make an arse out of myself at some point.
The Rant is enjoyable too, but I'll spend more time going through the threads on the SEC Rant just because I enjoy the interaction with fans of other SEC schools.
Then, I simply MUST check the Photos from Days Gone By, Bring us Your 2021 Memes and Beyond, the Memes threads on the polit board, and the Fail Gifs. Those require multiple visits per day.
There are also favorite posters I like to keep up with. Vox Dawg, Soccerfut, ChineseBandits58, and Y.A.Tittle come to mind. And it's always a blessing to run across a post with a bit of poetry by fr33manator.
This site, as a whole, provides more information and entertainment that any other 12 sites combined. It also beats the hell out of FB where every click you make brings about another round of targeted adverts that fill up your feed.
Chicken built something exceptional here and I plan to enjoy it for all it's worth.
(Come to think of it, CAD, you need to post more wind-blown hair memes over on the Poli Board. You've been slacking the past two days.)

For me it's the best place to get any news. I don't even care about the sports forums anymore. I just like the OT and Political Talk boards.

I think I found the board in 06 or 07. Registered a couple year later. The main reason I used to come here was because it was a hilarious place.
Now its full of bitter aging men who are eaten up by politics.

I've been here almost 14 years....this site beats any current news source almost anywhere. The speed, accuracy, non-filtered aspect, even with the PIIHB stuff is still 1000x more accurate and non-filtered than we get with MSM. It's a sad indictment honestly.

Change around ‘09 when everyone was on FB and people were getting in trouble for Facebook posts that were not PC. That’s when I started frequenting the OT. You can actually be yourself or whoever you want to be here. People have real conversations and are allowed to share their views. There aren’t as many attention whores either because your account is not tied to your personal name.
Also, as others have said, this is a great place for news and advice and if you love to cook like me, the F&D board is second to none.
That’s why I’m still here. Nothing rivals TD.
