Some pissed off Naval officer is doing a bunch of paperwork this morning. I'd like to know how they got through the front gate. Were the sentries sleeping?

Could you imagine if this was some sort of suicide bomber type of incident?
Base CO (or the Chief Master-at-Arms) could be relieved of duty because of this incident.
As a sentry you are taught the rules of engagement for your watch assignment. I would say this situations falls under the "open fire" category.
