This is such garbage thinking. It's about how you fly them not the planes themselves. Do we even know for sure if it was an F/A-18??? Any time this happens the media just throws out the F/A-18 label.

Uh... because you at best have trained mall cop security manning the gates, where nothing ever happens, and no one tries to break in and their sole purpose is to turn away people whom forgot their I.D. Very easy job to get complacent, since nothing ever fricking happens.

Middle ground, you have a trained air force police officer who is 18 and couldn't score high enough to get a real job manning the gate, and falls into the same trap as above.

Worst case scenario, you have an augmentee who was smart enough to do more than check I.D.'s but was still tasked to check I.D.'s because well... frick that shite let's make someone else do it, and falls into the same trap as the above 2

Using your logic wouldn't that mean you have someone more likely to click off safety and open fire? Not a dig at you because I think you're pretty close.

And if you're wrong spend the rest of your life in prison?

If the military understands one thing from the very beginning better than most it's consequences.

I'm really getting old, was the only guy I talked to that even knew any of my old compadres, and even at that it's because we all work at the same place now.

No way. I'm sure there's a few others still around there. Maybe over at 24 now though.

This is why you keep your distance in the fricking traffic pattern. And why wasn't the tower monitoring the situation?

Nah, ironically I was one of the youngest guys, when I started a lot of the guys there had VN combat experience, some pretty badass fighter pilots. It's time for all of us dinosaurs get out of the way and let the new age of aeronautical assassins pick up the baton and kick some arse.
