It seems that this may be a problem from higher in the chain then. Military personnel understand orders and the consequences of disobeying them. What I understand is that no unauthorized persons will enter a base, and that deadly force is authorized to prevent it from happening. Someone higher up didn't make that order clear and now they're knee deep in shite because of it.

I don't get the lack of security either. At Barksdale, there are pop up barriers for this exact situation.

I can see that, because of the mission they were probably the last ones in service. It's funny because a lot of units back in the day wouldn't hire those guys because they weren't considered to be fighter pilots.

That's where I was stationed at and most of what I know about base security is from what I've seen at their gates. I went to tech school at the Naval Seabee base in Gulfport and even without planes or anything of importance, there was no way you were getting in like that.
