2 day NOLA trip - alive but figured out the issue.

Spent two days in NOLA last week. Stayed in the quarter, walked around to all parts during the day and stuck between bourbon and Decatur at night. I’m alive and sorry I can’t give the negative Nola folks something to pounce on. Had a great time by myself.
I realize it was Monday and Tuesday night, but I literally either walked up and down bourbon or sat at a bar on bourbon and people watched.
Both nights, I DIDN’T SEE ONE SINGLE POLICE OFFICER ANYWHERE IN THE QUARTER. WHAT THE ACTUAL frick. And no I wasn’t blitzed both nights and missed them.
No wonder crime has now spread all throughout the quarter. If people know they aren’t going to get prosecuted let alone caught, then why not run wild.
I don’t get it. There literally used to be groups of cops staged at every block. Again, Monday and Tuesday nights but not a single cop anywhere to be found.

Destroya is no doubt a huge part of it, but why is the Consent Degree such a drain on the force? I hear that get mentioned a lot.

Have had the same experience myself. Several times. Maybe I'm showing my age, but I can remember when there was a robust police presence in the FQ. Big, tough looking cops, which you never see any more in NO. Everyone understood that if you fricked with those guys it was going to end badly for you.

It's not, just an excuse.

I don’t know. I also hear JBE has offered numerous times to send in the guard. I live outside the state now, but keep close ties through TD and friends/family that still live there. Just can’t believe the force is dwindled down that low.

Because the demographic that screams racism every five mins is also the one that causes all the crime.
The city is fricked and desperately in need of different leadership at all levels of government. But that’ll never happen.

Narrator: OP was slugged by a mugger and is currently in a comatose dream state, thinking he is all right.

Exactly. You never F’d with the NOPD and you damn sure didn’t touch their horses unless you ask. Otherwise they’re taking you over to an alley way, beating your arse and then taking you to jail.

And the police force needs to not be afraid of these folks and their faux racism cries.
Start policing by the statistics again.

This was some funny shite. No doubt by page 3 this is what it will turn into

They only have 900 officers or whatever. They need 880 officers to sit at desks so therefore they are short staffed. Those reports aren't going to lose themselves.

You know how when you go to somewhere like Disney World, you don’t see the cops but they’re there and only seconds away from responding to anything that’s goes down…?
In NOLA, they’re really nowhere. ANd if anything pops off, they’re literally hours away from responding.
Congrats OP, for surviving.

Locals don't frequent Bourbon St.
Nola is so much more.
So is crime.
Get that chit straight leadership.

Mmmm
Nah
It’s a huge issue and it’s not getting corrected any time soon
But if you have some other info that could shed light on the issue, please…. Share
