Awful

An 8-year-old boy and his 10-year-old brother died after a swimming incident in Grand Isle. Their 12-year-old cousin and an adult man were also airlifted to UMC.
The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5 after being caught in an undertow.
Fireman and police worked together to rescue the four from the water.
According to the police chief, the four were accompanied by the aunt and the mother, who were on the beach, of the children.

Wasn’t Grand Isle under evacuation orders yesterday?

No. The order was issued yesterday, but it did not go into effect until 6:00 a.m. today.

Rip current before a storm. What a surprise. I really feel sorry for these boys that were born to dumb parents.

What an awkward sentence. There is no editing in journalism anymore.

This breaks my heart to read.
I was down there for a while yesterday with three kids.
We were just going to fish in the area, but we did walk onto the beach for a bit.
My son made a comment about how he didn't think it looked bad enough out there for a red flag. I gave him the talk about it's not always how big the waves are just like I had to reinforce the same thing when we were in Gulf Shores a few weeks ago.
Heard all of the locals talking about how bad the riptide was.

What were these parents thinking. Unreal how little common sense there is in our society. There’s a storm coming so the undertow and currents will be stronger. There’s also been several drownings the last few weeks in Grand Isle. People just need to be more aware of things

Rip current, not undertow. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine along with Gulf and not ocean.

I don't know how you would recover losing two children like that. That is devastatingly sad.

Those poor kids and their poor parents... I’m sick.

That’s as bad as it gets. I could t go on with losing two kids.

That sucks, what a sad story.

Article says undertow
Either way, red flags were out everywhere and know two people drowned there two weeks ago should be a big warning to not let kids go swimming

The man who attempted to save the boys has also died with complications associated with drowning
quote:
The Houma man who selflessly waded into a riptide off a Grand Isle Beach to try and save the lives of his fiancée’s young children has also died, according to authorities.
Terrell Miller, 33, was pronounced dead of complications associated with drowning Sunday at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, two days after he was pulled from the water and hospitalized in critical condition, according to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office.
