Avegno said she'd be most comfortable waiting 2-3 weeks after Memorial Day to ensure there's not a spike in cases. Memorial Day was May 25.

The Dr and Destroya want to wait until we pass the 2 week mark pass Memorial Day before they move to Phase 2 because they are worried about a spike due to "super spreader events"

They even showed a slide from Pensacola Beach and could be worried about people from New Orleand being there and bringing the virus back...

Even though numbers are down....they are going to start testing more in Nursing Homes.....they are going to try and raise the numbers to justify staying shut down

If the state of Louisiana is allowed to move into Phase 2 of coronavirus reopening next week, it's possible New Orleans might not follow suit until a later date, New Orleans Health Department Director Jennifer Avegno said in a news conference Friday morning.

Avegno said that next phase of reopening in Orleans Parish "might be a little too premature."

She will NOT be bullied

I think JBE made phase 1 last 3 weeks for the same reason. He is hoping for a bump and back on the federal money trough

I was in a different parish that I will not name yesterday and went to a bar that was open for business. They have a LDH food licence but they weren't serving food, even though they have a kitchen. People in there were just sitting at the bar, smoking and drinking like normal.

I have a feeling you will start seeing this more and more if they dont start loosening things up

One reason for Avegno's reservations include large gatherings along Gulf Coast beaches during Memorial Day, which might lead to significant spread that could have been brought back to New Orleans.

"Remember, we have to be a little more careful in New Orleans," she said.

New Orleans had negative 1 deaths yesterday.

Local news posted a graphic of the covid deaths in the 6 metro parishes, and New Orleans had a -1

The news anchor stated the reason that New Orleans has a negative number is "today the City reported one fewer death than they did yesterday." She then stated the 2 #s

By original standards and the whole flatten the curve string, Nola could have gone to Phase 1 around April 25th.

By keeping New Orleans closed longer than the rest of the state I am wondering if the loss of tourism revenue can be claimed for federal help & JBE struck a deal with LaToya to delay reopening while opening back the rest of the state to appease the Legislature

That way he “wins” both sides

I don’t have a clue if that’s how it works or not
