The fattest state in 1997 (Mississippi) was slimmer than the slimmest state in 2016 (Colorado). USA residents are much uglier than they used to be within living memory.

There were no Yellow States in '97, now the lowest are Yellow.

And in 2021 instead of “shaming” obesity we are putting 300lb women in bikinis on the cover of magazines and telling people you can be “healthy”/beautiful at any weight. I’m sure that mindset will quick fix this problem

What happened 25 years ago that made the entire country get more obese?

This is really amazing / horrifying.

Too much discretionary money along with too many fast food locations/options.

I think fast food just became more prevalent. I remember my town getting a McDonald’s in the late 80s or maybe early 90s. And I’m not sitting here throwing stones cuz I could certainly lose a few but there has been a huge push to make it acceptable to be morbidly obese.

The food deserts just keep expanding. People are literally starving in the streets in this country.
Why won't the government do something about all these starving women, children, and minorities?

This is why it’s hard for me to want to donate to any anti hunger charity here.
