It’s almost all cabs there, I thought.

“Noise cameras” that detect souped-up cars, motorcycles and other loud vehicles are coming to a street near you.
A new bill authorizing the cams, authored by Councilman Keith Powers (D-Manhattan), is expected to pass Thursday.
Under the measure, the cameras would activate if a vehicle reaches at least 85 decibels from 50 feet or more away.
Please do this in Louisiana

A law like this is probably a lot more about the huge part of NYC that's laid-back, tree-lined Brooklyn neighborhoods and a lot more similar to the Garden District in New Orleans than Midtown Manhattan.
That's where the constant stream of fools with excessively noisy cars and motorcycles are so annoying. Especially since the pandemic, where almost every single street is now packed with outdoor bars and restaurants.

Petition Waze to add another "Karen" button for reporting loud motorcycles.

No, it isn't.

No, it's not.
They don't have a right to disturb other people. They're not being oppressed.

I wish Elon would develop a laser that could be shot down from a satellite, killing the driver blasting his bass so loud it rattles his car. As a result you’d have the added benefit of crime stats dropping overnight.

This sounds like something OT Legend Mandie would approve of.

This HAS to sound much better than the suped up Hondas and Kias with spoilers on the rear and huge exhaust pipes that make it sound like a Singer sewing machine on the verge of exploding into a trillion pieces!

They already have a gunfire detection system called ShotSpotter.

1.4 million households in New York City own a car. About 45 percent. Lower in Manhattan obviously.

I welcome it in Tuscaloosa. You can't throw a stick without hitting a lifted F100 super duty with offsets and obnoxiously loud exhaust. These are FAR more prevalent than Harleys, sport bikes, or CHarters/Challengers.
I'm curious about grown arse men riding around with wheels that stick so far outside the wheel wells. Peaked in high school?

Nice idea, but how would a noise meter discern which vehicle is the loudest when there ae multiple vehicles in range of the meter?
