I will never ever understand spending that much on something that you will literally only wear once.
Weddings in particular.
The industry of insecurity. Gotta do it bigger than the other girls.

Weddings are big business. It's dumb to pay all that money, but for the people who provide wedding related products or services, it's a gold mine.
I did research on a tux rental business a few years ago. There is some money to be made. I would imagine there is even more to be made in wedding dresses.

A wedding dress isn't a clothing purchase, it is an emotional purchase. And I am keeping mine because while I don't think my girls would want to ever wear it, it is a symbol of the event that joined their father and me and was the start of the road to them. Something I can pull out and while we laugh over the outdated style, we also bond over the story of their parents coming together and dreams of their own day.
Only paid $400 for mine but I can see where brides get sucked into the emotional vortex and spend way more.

Too bad they didn't do the cost of bridal veils. You think wedding dresses are expensive? Oh boy!

Im getting married in a month, and I am disgusted with the amount of money we are blowing on this stupid party. Love my soon to be wife, but frick this wedding nonsense. We will never see a dime of this money again.

My wife bought a used one for $150.
Then re-sold it online after the wedding for $75.
I love her.
$175 and $150 here, it was an "in-vogue" one at that. Sounds like you picked an awesome woman

Weddings are so pointless, every couple should just use that money towards their future but women gotta have their day i guess
