I always assumed “wait 15 minutes after eating to swim” was what my parents told me because they wanted to relax after lunch.

Good lesson to be learned.

If you are vomiting, don’t try to hold it in. Let it go!

My wife lost her Father in similar fashion. He and her Uncle ate a Cuban sandwich and swam out to the second sandbar, Clearwater Beach. He never made it. She was 5 years old.

shite. Does this mean I still need to be worried about my palms becoming hairy too?

I’m not sure what this says. Could you use a much bigger font? Sadly, I’ve been slowly going blind since puberty hit.

Coroners can cause a lot of problems when they overstep with comments like that.

He was a lawyer before being appointed to the coroner position, Lawyers should not be qualified to be coroners if they are going to make causation determinations. Coroners that make causation determinations should have at least some minuscule medical training. It’s a huge problem in the U.S., too.

Yep. Of course, a lot of the pathologists at the crime labs can’t help themselves and make comments like that too!

It was the unintended consequence of her swimming on a full stomach,

wtf? It probably had more to do with her not being a strong swimmer.

Since becoming a parent I can confirm this is true. A lot of things we grew up believing fall into this category. Most notably eternal damnation in hell for the seven deadly sins and masturbating everywhere all the time.

In the good old days, it was a lot longer than 15 minutes

They always said he had to wait an hour after we ate before going swimming

That's what I remember from the late 50's and the parents at our country club would time their children.
