At least 12 major U.S. cities have broken annual homicide records in 2021 -- and there's still three weeks to go in the year.

Of the dozen cities that have already surpassed the grim milestones for killings, five topped records that were set or tied just last year.

"It's terrible to every morning get up and have to go look at the numbers and then look at the news and see the stories. It's just crazy. It's just crazy and this needs to stop," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said after his city surpassed its annual homicide record of 500, which stood since 1990.

Philadelphia, a city of roughly 1.5 million people, has had more homicides this year (521 as of Dec. 6) than the nation's two largest cities, New York (443 as of Dec. 5) and Los Angeles (352 as of Nov. 27). That's an increase of 13% from 2020, a year that nearly broke the 1990 record.

Chicago, the nation's third-largest city, leads the nation with 739 homicides as of the end of November, up 3% from 2020, according to Chicago Police Department crime data. Chicago's deadliest year remains 1970 when there were 974 homicides.

Wow. Indianapolis with 246? I felt very safe there and thought that it was one of the few Midwest cities that are showing signs of growth and a good economy.

Pretty cool downtown area too. Thought it was a nice city all around.

Austin PD Funded

On April 22, 2021 Austin City Council approved a $442 million budget for the APD, which goes into effect Oct. 1, 2021. This budget has increased by 47.8% and is the highest it’s ever been, according to KXAN.

They cut it one year then refunded to the highest level ever.

There's been a huge trend in electing DAs that are extremely extremely soft on crime, all funded by Soros.

And this is what happens.

A lot of them hit their record in 2020 and haven't yet surpassed it.

Wow almost like there is a nefarious plot underfoot to increase the level of criminality until the populace begs for an overreaction from the government.

Well Daunte Wright had a wrap sheet a mile long, including shooting numerous people and chocking a woman nearly to death to steal her rent money. He was awaiting trial on the charges and if they hadn't bailed his criminal arse out of jail and put him back on the streets he would still be alive.

Lukewarm take - increase in property crimes, robberies, and rapes are all far more concerning than the murder rate

5 of these beat their record set 1 year ago. Amazing consistency.
