You're arguing that it's equality and it's okay when the problem is it's a massive inequity. Consumption tax on things that people need for everyday use hurts more the less income you make. Not even talking streaming. Getting your car worked on, updating your home, etc.

Or should everyone just hold onto what they have because they don't deserve to spend money?

The amount you will receive back in income taxes will get greater than what you pay in sales tax on your Cox and Netflix bill.

More illegals pay for Netflix than income taxes. Be thankful.

For most Louisiana residents this is untrue. And they’re going to start taxing your home repairs, lawn care, and hair cuts next

Oh well. The poor need to pay their fair share. Most of it gets spent on them

Good. Tax things people buy.

I hate paying taxes, but I hate disproportionate taxes even more.

If people were actually interested in everyone paying their fair share and also making those who consume more pay more, they would support eliminating all this bullshite and going straight property tax.

But that's too conservative for most of the people here.

Consumption taxes disproportionately harm poor people.

Just take the mask off and say you hate poor people, you coward.

Oh no, the impoverished, starving 300 pounders are having their Hulu and Netflix taxed. That's what will keep them poor, not their chronically bad decisions made on an almost daily basis.

We are talking about hundreds of dollars in income tax versus a few dollars or even cents on sales tax on petty things like home repairs, lawn care, etc.

That’s not what I said, but let me know when you find the utopia that taxes the poor out of prosperity

Yeah, I’m sure they would’ve crawled out of poverty if not for a half percent raise in sales tax

Not arguing. It’s a fact that it’s equal dollars. I pay what you pay. Equality

What part of we're lowering income taxes by 1.2 Billion and raising sales taxes by 1.3 Billion makes you think taxes are going to be lower?

One AC repair could cost you $1k plus in sales tax. 75% of Louisiana residents would have to go into credit card debt to pay that.

How about we just cut government spending instead of raising taxes? I’ve explained it to you retards a dozen times, but this is just a tax swap. A swap that will disproportionately hurt poor and middle class people, which is objectively bad for everyone.

What about the ever expanding base that raises the costs of those goods 10%+ on day 1?
